초록

A new paradigm has been established in worship and Christian education by rapidly enlarging Christian internet broadcasting and church homepages, which surpass the differences of gender, generations, church offices organizations, and location. By virtue of technical innovations, such as WMP (Window Media Player), the information super-highway, and broadband Internet, cyber worship and learning have been almost recognized as real virtual reality.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the structural characteristics of enlarging a Christian cyber intermediary through Internet broadcasting and church homepages in Korea. To measure the structure of the Christian cyber intermediary, the questionnaire surveyed socio-cultural characteristics such as gender, church offices organizations, location, age, and length of membership. This study used survey methods. The data was collected from 416 Christians from 30 churches who were randomly chosen. The statistical tests of frequency analysis and ANOVA were done using SPSS 17th version.
The findings of this study show significant differences in patterns between gender, church offices, reasons of using intermediary, durations of membership, and intentional church transfer due to the contents of worship and education. In addition, cyber intermediary functions are a strong social agency. Most members feel that they have an affinity to their Christian intermediary due to its contents.
In conclusion, the Korean Christian cyber intermediary reflects the real socio-culture and overcomes the limits and obstacles of time and space. However, Korean Christians still differentiate churches from other social agencies by their spirituality and piety based upon the Word of God and fellowship among Christians. The future of Korean churches will have a close interaction between the real church and the ubiquitous networks of the Christian cyber intermediary.
