李白과 鮑照의 樂府詩에 관한 小考 (A Study on Yue-fu Poetry of Li Bai and Bao Zhao)

This paper analyzes the differences in the emotional and thematic expressions of Li Bai and Bao Zhao’s Yue-fu poetry. Both poets have something in common in that they inherited the realism of Han Dynasty Yue-fu and wrote their Yue-fu poems. Therefore, there are several akbu poems with the same title from the old Yue-fu poems. In this paper, I will refer to them as ‘Yue-fu poems with the same title’. Due to these commonalities, commentators throughout the ages have evaluated Li Bai as inheriting Bao Zhao’s Yue-fu poems. This paper focuses on this assessment and aims to reveal the differences between the two. The methodology is based on qualitative analysis, which is a close examination of the content and poetic language of the work, and quantitative analysis, which is based on data processing through the analytical techniques of digital humanities, which have been continuously attempted in recent years. It is noteworthy that the qualitative and quantitative analyses yielded almost similar results.
The first difference is the attitude of the poet in the way he expresses his feelings and emotions, i.e., in Bao Zhao’s Yue-fu poem, the emotion of lamentation from despondency is dominant, whereas Li Bai sublimates it further and expresses it in a so-called ‘Haofang piaoyi’ mood. The second difference is whether the poet directly reveals the intention of the poem and the subject matter as it is in one dimension. Bao Zhao inherited the titles and even the contents of the old Yue-fu, and he was characterized by frankly discussing the words or the meaning of the poem he wanted to express. Li Bai, on the other hand, was characterized by using allusions and analogies to describe the materials, historical figures, and stories related to his pursuit of the new world, and thus effectively communicated his meaning, even though he euphemized it.
Taken together, it can be said that both Bao Zhao and Li Bai inherited the realistic aspect of Han Yue-fu, but in terms of the way they expressed it, Li Bai went beyond the inheritance of Han Yuefu or Bao Zhao’s Yue-fu poetry and personalized it in his own unique broad-minded and romantic way.
