2017년 한성기 백제사 연구 성과와 과제 (Research Trend and Task of the Studies about Baekje’s Hansŏng Period in 2017)

초록

2017년에 제출된 백제 한성기 연구 성과는 약 50여 편으로 파악된다. 그 중 정치사 관련 연구는 총 21편으로, 그 내용에 따라 통치/지배세력/제도 및 지배체제 3가지 항목으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 먼저 통치 및 국정운영과 관련해서는 불교 수용, 사냥, 원지 축조, 시조 전승의 문제가 다루어졌는데, 그 논의는 대체로 왕권 강화와 관련되는 경향을 보인다.
지배세력에 대해서는 건국설화와 묘지명 분석을 통해 백제 왕실과 이주귀족 등 중앙지배세력에 대한 검토가 이루어진 가운데, 고고자료를 통한 경기 남부, 서산, 세종, 영산강유역의 지배세력에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되었던 흐름을 확인할 수 있다. 또 지방세력 연구의 경우 백제 중앙과의 관계를 어떻게 볼 것인지에 초점을 맞추는 경향이 두드러진다.
정치제도 및 지배체제에 관한 연구에서는 장군호, 박사, 관복제, 관제 자료의 원전, 지방통치, 율령 등 다양한 주제를 다루었는데, 2017년 문헌사 연구 중 비교적 활발하게 논의가 펼쳐진 분야라고 할 수 있다. 그 밖에 백제의 도성제도에 대한 연구 2편도 제출되었다.
대외관계사 연구는 총 19편으로, 정치적 교섭과 문물 교류로 나누어 살펴보았다. 정치석 교섭 연구에서는 백제 한성기의 외교정책, 항로, 요서 진출 관련 기록 등이 논의되었으며, 대체로 외교정책의 목적과 배경에 집중하는 연구 경향을 보인다. 그 밖에 기리영 전투와 『진서』 마한전의 교섭기사를 마한 중심의 관점에서 검토한 연구도 확인된다.
문화와 문물의 교류 양상을 살펴본 연구에서는 왜계 고분, 고분 출토 유리구슬, 호남지역의 외래유물과 고분부장품, 최근 발견된 한일의 고고자료 소개 등 다양한 주제에서 논의가 이루어졌다. 특히 서남해안 지역의 왜계고분을 비롯한 영산강유역 관련 연구가 집중적으로 이루어졌는데, 백제와 영산강유역 세력의 관계에 대한 학계의 관심이 반영된 것으로 여겨진다. 이들 연구에서는 영산강유역의 독자적 성격과 정치체로서의 마한을 언급하는 경향이 많은 가운데, 백제 영향력 하의 지방 세력으로 파악하는 연구도 다수 확인되고 있다.
한편 정치사 및 대외관계사 연구 이외에도 백제의 지명과 인명, 삼한에 대한 인식, 삼한의 소도 등에 대한 연구가 제출되었는데, 연구 주제의 다양화라는 측면에서 의미를 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 그 밖에 현장교육 및 대중과의 소통을 주제로 한 논고도 제출되었다.

영어초록

It is estimated that the number of the studies about Baekje’s Hansŏng Period(漢城期) in 2017 was around 50’s. Among them, the researches about political history are 21 in total, and they could be grouped into three categories: governance, ruling power, and institution and ruling system. First of all, those articles and books about governance are considering the issues like acceptance of Buddhism, construction of monasteries, or transmission of progenitor myth; these discussions are generally related to consolidating sovereign power.
For ruling power of Baekje, multiple researches examined the royal family of Baekje and ruling power in the central through analyzing the origin myth and epitaphs. On the other hand, there were also active research activities for the ruling powers in the areas like the southern part of Kyŏnggi, Sŏsan, Sejong and the basin of Yŏngsan River through archaeological resources. Additionally, there is a trend within the articles about the local powers to focus on the relationship between the capital and local powers.
There are various topics for the researches about the political and ruling system, such as titles of general, Paksa(doctor), system of official uniforms, origin of the historical texts about the government official system, local governance, and code of administrative law. Arguably, it was the most lively discussed topic among the researches about the historical texts in 2017. Also, there are two articles studied the system of Baekje’s capital.
The number of the studies about Baekje’s foreign relationship is 19 in total, which could be categorized into two: political negotiation and exchange of the cultural products. For Baekje’s political negotiation, there are discussions about their diplomatic policies during Hansŏng Period, sea routes, the record about Baekje’s expedition to western region from Liao River. Generally, these studies show research tendency concentrated on the purpose and background of Baekje’s diplomatic policies. Additionally, there are also a study about the battle of Kiriyŏng and an article that analyzed the texts from Biography of Mahan(馬韓傳) in the Book of Jin(晉書; Jinshu) about their negotiations in the perspective of Mahan.
For the studies about the aspect of Baekje’s cultural exchanges, there are many discussions covering various topics such as Japanese origin tombs, glass beads from the tombs, relics from foreign culture and grave goods, and introduction of the recently excavated archaeological resources in Korea and Japan. Many studies concentrated on the area around Yŏngsan River and the Japanese origin tombs on coastal area of Yellow Sea and the South Sea, a tendency which reflects the academic circle’s interest in the relationship between Baekje and the area around Yŏngsan River. While many articles mentions Mahan as an independent body politic and characteristic in this area, there are a number of articles to view Mahan as a local power under the influence of Baekje.
Meanwhile, apart from studies of politics and foreign relationship, there are researches about the name of Baekje’s places, their cognizance of Three Hans, Three Hans’ Sodo(蘇塗), and etc. These articles have a significance that indicates diversified research topics in this field. Additionally, there is an article that emphasizes on field education and communication with the public.
