柳方善의 流配詩에 내재된 정서의 제 양상 (A Study on the Types of Emotions Inherent in the Poems of Yu Bang-Seon(柳方善) during His Exile －With the analysis of examples of poetic words－)

초록

이 글은 태재 유방선의 유배기 작품에 함축적으로 내재된 정서를 양상별로 고찰해 본 것이다. 즉, 字意나 文面에 보이는 그대로가 아니라 이면에 깔린 시인의 본래 뜻과 정서를 엿보고자 하였다. 작품 분석에서는 시 표면의 정서를 ‘困楚酸寒’과 ‘憔悴困踣’, 安分順命과 여유, 처지의 호소와 충심 등 셋으로 나누고, 그 이면에 깃든 내재적 정서를 살펴보았다.
그의 유배시에는 ‘困楚酸寒’, ‘憔悴困踣’의 정서가 기본적으로 깔려 있다. 구체적으로는 苦惱, 辛酸, 孤獨, 憂愁, 挫折, 窮寒, 悲歎 등이 깃들어 있다. ‘가장 슬프고 불쌍하다’고 하면서도 약간의 해학이 묻어나고, 외롭고 괴로운 가운데도 여유나 절제가 느껴지기도 한다. 安分順命과 여유의 측면은, 장기간의 유배로 인해 모든 걸 체념한 채 命이나 하늘에 맡김으로써 安分과 여유를 느끼기도 한다. 때로는 周易의 ‘否極泰來’의 이치를 믿고자 한다. 하지만 다른 작품에서는 그 이치를 부정하기도 한다. 그 바탕에는 곤궁함과 절박함을 깔고 있으면서 의식적인 자기 위안이나 다짐, 또는 역설이 내재된 것으로 파악된다. 또 친한 벗이나 外叔에게 자신의 처지를 호소하거나, 임금에 대한 충심을 표하거나, 혹은 자신의 재능을 과시하는 내용들은 그 내심을 보면 모두 解配와 官仕에의 미련이 깃들어 있다. 임금의 은혜나 축원의 마음을 읊은 것은 더 이상 빌미를 만들지 않으려는 경계의 의도에서 비롯되었다. 이 때문에 그는 협소한 思考와 運身을 할 수밖에 없었고, 추호라도 불만스런 심정은 읊을 수 없었다. 그래서 그의 작품은 시국을 읊거나 사회 문제로 눈을 돌린 경우가 드물고 자신의 처지를 읊는 데만 국한되어 있는 특징이 있다.
이러한 詩情의 분석과정에서, 시는 웃어도 시인의 마음은 울고, 시는 괴롭지만 속마음은 여유도 있음을 엿볼 수 있었다. 본고는 시 작품의 표현과 내면의 정서를 분리하여 시인의 진정한 의도와 마음을 찾아내기 위한 하나의 시도를 해 보았다. 다만 작품의 창작 시기를 알 수 없어서 좀 더 유기적이고 체계적인 분석이 되지 못하는 한계가 있었다.

영어초록

This study presents an investigation into the types of emotions implicatively inherent in the works of Taejae(泰齋) Yu Bang-seon during his exile. The study set out to look into the poet's originally intended meanings and feelings behind instead of the literary meanings of words or what was seen on the surfaces of sentences. In analyzing his works, the investigator categorized the superficial poetic emotions into three groups of Gonchosanhan(困楚酸寒) and Chochuegonbok(憔悴困踣), Anbunsunmyeong(安分順命) and leisure, and complaint of his situations and loyalty, as well as examined the inherent emotions behind them.
The basic emotions in his poems during his exile are Gonchosanhan and Chochuegonbok. To be specific, there are such emotions as agony, hardship, solitude, melancholy, frustration, destitution, and lamentation in those works. A hint of humor is detected in “the most sorrowful and pitiful” situations, and leisure and control are felt in solitude and suffering. As for the aspect of Anbunsunmyeong and leisure, he gets to have content and leisure by giving up everything after a long exile and leaving everything to fate or Heaven. He wanted to believe the logic of ‘Biguktaerae(否極泰來)’ in Zhouyi(周易) at some time or another. However, he also denied the logic in his another works. The underlying emotions of them are distress and urgency with his conscious self-comfort, determination or paradox inherent in them. There is his lingering attachment to getting his exile lifted and holding office in his complaining about his situations to his close friends and maternal uncle, exhibiting his loyalty to the king, and boasting his talent. He talked about the boon and invocation of the king out of a cautious intention to give no more curses. So he thought more narrowly and acted in a more passive way, and was not able to have a complaint. Therefore, it is a special quality of his writing poems that they don't say anything about the current state of affairs or social problems, but only say the situation of himself.
The analysis results of his poetic emotions show that his mind wept when his poem smiled and that his mentality had leisure when his poem was in agony. The study is a try that seek the poet's true mind through separation of intended feelings from the surfaces of sentences of Yu Bang-seon. But, the study has a limit to organic and systemic analysis, because the time of writing poems are not clear.
