문화 요소와 분석기술의 융합에 의한 반도체 소재 기술경쟁력 제고 방안 검토 (Review on the measures for enhancing the competitiveness of semi-conductor material technology by fusing cultural element and analysis technology)

초록

본 연구는 2019년 일본 정부의 수출 규제로 인해 사회적 관심이 집중되고 있는 반도체 소재 산업에 있어서 기술경쟁력과 문화적 조건의 상호작용을 분석하기 위해 시작되었다. 일본은 반도체 소재 분야에서 자신들의 문화를 적절히 활용함으로써 세계 최고의 경쟁력을 확보하였으며, 이 과정에서 일본 특유의 협력과 소통의 문화가 주요하게 작용하였다. 협력과 소통은 소재와 공정의 만남, 보다 구체적으로 소재 정보와 공정 정보의 결합 방식으로 실현되었으며, 여기에 분석기술이 적절히 활용되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 이 과정에 작용한 기술적 요인과 문화적 요인을 분석하는 것이다. 분석 대상으로 고순도 불화수소(AHF: Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride)와 그것의 적용 공정인 건식식각세정(nonaqueous dry cleaning)을 선정하였다. 일본은 고순도 불화수소 소재를 일본 반도체 산업 고도성장기에 대학과 반도체 기업, 소재 기업의 협력을 통해 개발하였다. 본 연구는 이 과정을 평가 작업에 의한 가치 생성의 관점에서 살펴보았으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 소재의 개발과 적용 과정에서 분석기술이 정보의 생산뿐만 아니라 가공과 활용에서 중요한 역할을 수행하였으며, 이것이 정보 해석에 적용된 기준 설정과 밀접히 관련되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 정보 가공에 가치 다양성의 환경이 전제된다면 사회적 가치는 기술적 가치와 공존하면서 작동할 수 있으며, 분석기술이 이 두 가치의 결합을 매개할 수 있다고 기대할 수 있다. 셋째, 우리 문화는 일본과 다르다. 일본의 소재 산업이 일본 문화 특성이 반영된 암묵지 기반 역설계 방지 전략을 활용하였듯이 우리도 우리 문화가 반영된 조건의 설정이 필요하며, 이것은 분석기술의 적절한 활용을 통해 실현될 수 있다. 그리고 이와 같은 결과로부터 소재산업 경쟁력 확보를 위한 문화적 조건의 전망이라는 연구 목적이 이행되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영어초록

This study aims to analyze the interactions of technical competitiveness and cultural conditions in the semiconductor materials industry that grabs social attention due to the Japanese government’s export controls in 2019. In the semiconductor materials area, Japan secured the world-best competitiveness by properly utilizing its own culture, and in this process, Japan’s unique culture of cooperation and communication played a key role. Cooperation and communication was realized with the meeting of material and process, more specifically, with the coupling method of material information and process information, and here, analysis technology was adequately utilized. The objective of this study is to analyze the technical factors and cultural factors applied to this process. As the subjects of analysis, this study selected AHF(Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride) and nonaqueous dry cleaning which is the process applying AHF. Japan developed AHF through cooperation with university, semiconductor company, and material company in the period of high growth of the Japanese semiconductor industry. This study examined this process from the perspective of evaluation and value creation, and the result is as follows. First, in the process of developing and applying materials, the analysis technique performed critical roles not only in the production of information, but also in the process and utilization, which was closely related to setting up the standard applied to the interpretation of information. Second, in a condition of value diversity for information processing, social value can work as it coexists with technical value, and analysis technology can be expected to mediate the combining of these two values. Third, Korean culture is different from Japan’s. Just as the Japanese material industry used the tacit knowledge-based reverse engineering prevention strategy reflecting the cultural characteristics of Japan, Korea also needs to set up the conditions reflecting its own culture, which could be realized by pursuing the proper utilization of analysis technique. And such results showed that the prospect of cultural conditions for securing the competitiveness in the materials industry was carried out as an objective of this study.
