김성숙 중국어 저술 활동의 특징 고찰 －『반식민지 국가의 학생운동』을 중심으로－ (A Study on the Characteristics of Kim Sung Suk’s Writing Activities in Chinese: With a Focus on His Student Movements in a Semicolonial Country)

초록

김성숙의 중국어 저술은 저자의 상상력 반영 유무에 따라 크게 창작과 번역으로 나눌 수 있다. 본고는 창작의 하나인 『반식민지 국가의 학생운동』을 중심으로 김성숙 중국어 저술 활동의 특징을 고찰해보았다. 재중 독립운동가 중 중국인을 대상으로 글을 발표하여 일정한 성과를 얻은 인사들은 적지 않다. 하지만 『반식민지 국가의 학생운동』의 출판에서 확인되듯이 근대화된 중국 문화계의 시스템 속에서 중국 학술계에서 인정하는 중국의 지식인들과 어깨를 나란히 하며 ‘조선의 독립 문제’을 학술 활동에 접목시키며 중국어 집필 활동을 전개한 인물은 김성숙이 유일하다. 『반식민지 국가의 학생운동』은 한중일 3국의 언어의 형태로 존재한 식민지·반식민지 학생운동 관련 최신 이론과 정보를 통합(조합)하여 당시 중국 지식계에서 필요로 했던 중국학생운동의 역사·의의·방향 등을 점검한 책으로써 적지 않은 가치를 갖는다. 이처럼 중국 학술계에서 김성숙의 위치를 결정한 것은 그의 유창한 중국어 실력이 아니라 각종 이론과 최신 정보를 통합한 후 중국어로 표현할 수 있는 능력이었다. 김성숙은 자신을 ‘일본제국주의 문화봉쇄선 밖에 위치한 조선 혁명가’로 인식했다. 김성숙의 탁월했던 대중국(對中國)문화선전 업무에 대한 인식과 그 실천 과정 때문에 그의 중국어 저술은 그 해석과 관련하여 고려해야 볼 부분이 생긴다. 정치적 약자의 수사적 표현, 사상의 중국화, 불교사상(특히 불교 대중화·사회화)의 영향 등이 그것이다.

영어초록

Kim Sung Suk’s writing in Chinese is largely divided into his creations and translations according to whether his imagination was reflected or not. This study examined the characteristics of his writing activities in Chinese with a focus on Student Movements in a Semicolonial Country, which is one of his creative works. There are a good number of Korean fighters for independence who stayed in China and made certain achievements by publishing writing works targeting the Chinese people. As it is demonstrated in the publication of Student Movements in a Semicolonial Country, however, Kim was the only one who stood in comparison with Chinese intellectuals recognized by the Chinese scientific field in the modernized system of China’s cultural community and developed his writing activities in Chinese by incorporating the “issue of Joseon’s independence” into his academic activities. His Student Movements in a Semicolonial Country integrates(combines) the latest theories and information related to colonial and semicolonial student movements in three languages of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese and checks the history, significance, and direction of China’s student movements that his contemporary Chinese intellectual community needed, thus holding huge value. His position in the Chinese scientific field was determined by not only his fluent Chinese command, but also his ability to integrate all kinds of theories and the latest information and express them in Chinese. He perceived himself as a “Joseon revolutionary outside the cultural blockade zone of Japanese imperialism.” His remarkable perceptions of cultural propaganda work targeting China and its practice process point to some parts that should be considered in relation to the interpretation of his Chinese works. They include the rhetorical expressions of the politically weak, the Sinicization of ideas, and the influence of Buddhist ideas(especially the popularization and socialization of Buddhism).
