강원․경북 동해안 접경 지역의 y 반모음화 관련 현상 (Phenomena related to y Glide Formation in the border region of the east coast of Gangwon-Gyeongbuk)

초록

이 글의 목적은 강원 동해안과 경북 동해안의 접경지역인 삼척 지역어와 울진 지역어를 대상으로 하여 y 반모음화와 관련된 현상에 대해 살펴보는 것이다. y 반모음화와 관련된 현상이 음운론적인 환경에 따라 다양한 모습을 보이기 때문에 ① 동사의 어간말음절 두음의 자음 유무, ② 자음이 있을 경우에는 자음의 종류, ③ 동사 어간의 음절수, ④ 어간말이 개음절인지 폐음절인지 여부를 고려하여 규칙의 적용 양상을 살펴보았다.
어간말음절의 두음이 기타 자음인 경우에는 1음절 어간에서 <삼척>은 y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약이, <울진>은 모음순행동화가 일어났으며, 2음절, 3음절 어간에서는 두 지역어 모두 y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약이 실현되었다. 어간말음절의 두음이 경구개음인 경우에는 두 지역어가 일부 차이는 있지만 거의 동일한 양상을 보여 주나, 규칙 적용 양상이 음절수에 따라 달라진다. 1음절 어간에서는 y 반모음화에 이은 y 탈락, 1음절 후음 어간에서는 후음 탈락, y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약(삼척), y 반모음화에 이은 y 탈락(울진), 2음절 어간에서는 y 반모음화에 이은 모음 축약이 실현되었다. 마지막으로 어간말음절 두음이 ∅인 경우에는 두 지역어 모두 동일하게 1음절 어간에서 y 반모음화만 일어났으며, <삼척>은 복합성조를 가진 1음절 어간에서 y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약이 실현되었다. 2음절 어간의 경우, <삼척>은 y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약, y 첨가가, <울진>은 y 반모음화에 이은 모음축약이 일어났다.

영어초록

The purpose of this article is to examine the phenomena related to y Glide Formation by targeting the Samcheok and Uljin regional dialects, which are bordering regions of the east coast of Gangwon-do and the east coast of Gyeongsangbukdo. y Since the phenomenon related to y Glide Formation shows various appearances depending on the phonological environment, according to ① the presence or absence of a consonant in the stem syllable of a verb, ② the type of consonant if there is a consonant, ③ the number of syllables in the stem of the verb, ④ whether the stem ending is an open syllable or a closed syllable, the application aspect of the phonological rule was examined.
In the case where onsets of the stem-final syllable is other consonants.
In the Samcheok regional dialect, vowel coalescence followed by y glide formation occurred in the one syllable stem, and in Uljin regional dialect, vowel progressive assimilation followed by y glide formation occurred. In the two- syllable and three-syllable stems, vowel coalescence following the y glide formation was occurred in both regional dialects. In the case where onsets of the stem-final syllable is palatal consonants, the two regional dialects show almost the same aspects although there are some differences, but the rule application aspects differs depending on the number of syllables. In one syllable stems, y deletion followed by y glide formation occured, and in the one syllable stems ending in gutturals, guttural deletion and vowel coalescence following y glide formation occur in Samcheok regional dialect, y glide formation followed by y deletion occurs in Uljin regional dialect. In the two-syllable stems, y glide formation followed by vowel coalescence occured.
Lastly, n the case where onsets of the stem-final syllable is ∅, only y glide formation occurred in the one-syllable stem equally in both regional dialects, and in Samcheok regional dialect, vowel coalescence following y glide formation was occurred in the one-syllable stem with compound tone. In the case of a two-syllable stems, in the Samcheok regional dialect, vowel coalescence followed by yglide formation and y addition occurred, and in Uljin regional dialect, vowel coalescence followed by y glide formation occurred.
