Le but de cette étude est d’examiner la représentation collective pour les Juifs et le processus de transition des discours antisémites de la révolution industrielle et l’apparition du socialisme au début des années 1830, au commencement du mouvement de révision Dreyfus en 1898. La Révolution française est un événement très important pour décider du sort des Juifs en France. Alors que les Juifs ont été libérés suivant la loi de 1791 et accordés des droits civiques égaux, leur assimilation dans la société française n’était pas très facile. Les préjugés et la haine contre les Juifs errants depuis le Moyen Age ont entraîné l’antisémitisme chrétien, et tandis que l’industrialisation était promue dans le début du 19ème siècle, les Juifs ont été la cible de l’antisémitisme économique par des nationalistes, des socialistes, des anarchistes, marxistes, syndicalistes qui assimilaient le ‘Juifs=Banquiers= Capitalisme’. En outre, la question juive était devenue un problème social selon l’émergence de la théorie de l’antisémitisme racial dans les années 1880.
L’antisémitisme français au 19ème siècle n’est pas le monopole d’une idéologie politique particulière, mais les ailes gauche et droite pensaient l’antisémitisme économique sur la base de l’aversion juive. L’antisémitisme religieux et économique anyant été associé à l’antisémitisme racial depuis les années 1880, la société française formait le creuset des antisémites avec une variété de spectre politique montrant leur haine contre les Juifs et même criant la déportation et extermination des Juifs. Il y a, bien sûr, deux points pour indiquer clairement dans l’analyse de l’antisémitisme de gauche au 19ème siécle. La première est que tout parti de gauche n’a pas présenté l’antisémitisme comme sa plate-forme politique, et l’autre est que, du moins jusqu’avant l’affaire Dreyfus, l’antisémitisme était resté comme une question secondaire. Le fait que les activités antisémites de la gauche étaient face à la critique en soi-même ne devrait pas être négligé. Combiné avec les éléments de l’«anticapitalisme», «nationalisme républicain» et «anticléricalisme», l’antisémitisme de gauche français au 19ème siècle était un miroir de l’époque sous l’aspect d’être convergent avec l’antisémitisme de droite plutôt que d’être à l’antipode de celui-ci.

The purpose of this study is to look into the collective representation for the Jews and the transition process of antisemitic discourse from the 1st Industrial Revolution and the emergence of early socialism in the 1830s to the Dreyfus revision movement in 1898. The French Revolution was a momentous event to decide the fate of the Jews in France. While the Jews being liberated under the 1791 Law and granted equal civil rights, their assimilation into French society was not very easy. Prejudice and hatred against the vagabond Jews since the Middle Ages led to the christian antisemitism, and while industrialization was promoted in the early 19th century, the Jews became the target of economic antisemitism by nationalists, socialists, anarchists, Marxists, and syndicalists who equated the ‘Jews=Bankers= Capitalism’. Additionally, the Jewish question turned into a social problem according as the theory of racial antisemitism emerged in the 1880s.
French antisemitism in the 19th century is not the monopoly of a particular political ideology, but both left and right wings thought economic antisemitism on the basis of the Jewish aversion. Religious and economic antisemitism having been combined with racial antisemitism since the 1880s, french society formed the crucible of antisemites with a variety of political spectrum showing their loathing for the Jews and even shouting the Jews’ deportation and extermination. There are, of course, two points to make clear in analyzing the french left-wing antisemitism of the 19th century. One is that any left-wing party didn’t put forward antisemitism as its political platform, and the other is that, at least until before the Dreyfus Affair, antisemitism remained as a secondary issue. The fact that the Left’s antisemitic activities faced criticism inside themselves also should not be overlooked.
Combined with the elements of ‘anticapitalism’, ‘republican nationalism’ and ‘anticlericalism’, the 19th century French left-wing antisemitism was a mirror of the times from the aspect of being converged together with right-wing antisemitism rather than being at the antipode of the latter.
