盤湖 尹光顏의 인권의식 고찰 (A Study on the Human Rights Consciousness of Yoon Kwangan)

초록

본 연구는 유학자 윤광안(1757~1815)의 인간존중 사유가 發露된 ‘인권의식’에 대해 고찰하였다. 유학은 인간의 존엄성을 인정하고 인간에 대한 도덕적 신뢰를 바탕에 둔 인권의식을 강조하였지만, 당시 유학을 제대로 실천하지 못한 조선사회의 지배계층은 신분과 계급을 구분해 힘없는 백성의 인권을 무시하고 여성의 생명에 무관심하였다. 유학적 가치관을 내면화하여 실천에 옮긴 윤광안은 당시 유학자로서는 드물게 진보된 인권의식을 가지고 있었다. 그는 유학사상에 내재된 인간존중의 인권의식, 즉 인간 중심의 윤리가 핵심 가치임을 강조하였다. 그리하여 자기 성찰과 절제를 통해 성인을 꿈꾸는 군자를 학문의 최고목표로 삼아 爲己之學을 실천하고 가족과 사회로 이어져 올바른 인간관계 형성, 상대를 존중하는 추기급인의 자세로 인권의식의 중요성을 말하였다. 修己의 수양으로 자신의 내면과 행동을 돌아보고, 存養省察하며 자아실현으로 인식하는 주체의 인권실현을 시문 속에 드러내었다. 신화 속의 새 ‘精衛’에 자신의 의지를 투영시켜 修身을 다짐하였고, 인권존중의 사회와 유학의 이상 실현을 위한 자기 성찰로 修己의 중요성을 강조하였다. 治人의 자세로 교육과 애민의식을 중시하며 교육 공간 건축에 심혈을 기울인 사례들을 남겼다. 자신의 녹봉과 사비를 보태 교육 공간마련에 앞장선 일과 인재 양성, 유학의 배움과 가르침이 온전히 이루어질 때 유학이 추구하는 인권존중이 실현될 것이라고 믿었다.
윤광안은 백성들의 삶을 소중히 여겨 검소함과 청렴으로 治人하는 목민관의 품행을 보여주었으며 애민의식을 기반에 둔 통치자의 의무로 백성의 인권을 지키고자 하였다. 이는 정약용의 『목민심서』의 기록과 <據梧軒記>에서 확인하였다. 어려운 고을 재정 상황에서 백성들에게 고통을 주지 않고 공사를 마친 고을 현감을 칭송하는 등 곤궁한 백성의 구휼에 고심한 흔적이 시에 드러났으며 임금과 백성의 화합을 표현한 시에서는 백성의 생존권 보장이 애민의식과 백성의 인권존중임을 밝혔다.
‘四海同胞’를 언급한 편지에서는 사회현실에 대한 비판적 의식을 보여주며 인간은 누구나 선하게 태어나고 선을 추구하려는 본성을 가지고 있어 동포와 사해를 똑같이 보고 모든 사람을 사랑하는 박애와 형제애, 인간애의 정신을 주장하였다. 또 여성의 생명존중을 강조한 <朴烈婦傳>에서는 당시 사회의 지나친 열녀 관념을 비판하며 여성의 죽음에 대해 문제의식을 드러내 생명의 존엄성을 훼손하고 여성 인권이 결여된 당시 사회상을 지적하였다. 박씨의 열행을 ‘不以死傷生’ 이라는 성인의 말로 생명존중에 가치를 두어 당시 남성 중심의 조선사회에 부족한 인권의식을 깨우치게 하였다. 신분과 성별에 관계없이 인간의 생명은 모두 소중하고 존중받아야 한다는 인권의식을 보여준 사례로 다른 열녀전과 비교할 때 오직 윤광안만이 갖고 있는 차별점이다.
윤광안은 연구를 통해 유학자의 참모습을 실천으로 보여준 지식인으로 인간존중의 인권의식이 인류 보편적 가치임을 다시 한번 확인시켰다.

영어초록

This study examined the 'human rights consciousness' presented by Confucian scholar Yun Kwang-an (1757-1815) with the reason for respecting humans.
Confucianism recognized human dignity and emphasized human rights awareness based on moral trust in humans, but the ruling class of Joseon society, who did not properly practice Confucianism at the time, ignored the human rights of the powerless people by distinguishing their status and class and were indifferent to women's lives.
Yun Kwang-an, who internalized and put into practice his Confucian values, had an advanced human rights consciousness, which was rare for a Confucian scholar at the time. He emphasized that the human rights consciousness of human respect, that is, human-centered ethics, inherent in Confucianism, is a core value.
Thus, through self-reflection and self-control, the highest goal of study is to practice learning for oneself (爲己之學), lead to family and society, and establish proper human relationships, and the importance of human rights awareness as an extra-level person who respects others.
Through the created poetry, he reflected on his inner self and actions with the discipline of cleaning his body, protected his conscience, washed away his bad heart, and revealed the realization of human rights of the subject who recognized it as self-realization.
He promised to cultivate his mind and behavior properly by projecting his will into a fantasy bird that has been passed down since ancient times in China. The importance of writing(修己) was mentioned as a self-reflection for the realization of a society that respects human rights and the ideal of studying abroad.
In the position of a person who ruled a country, it was confirmed that he valued education and affection and devoted his heart and soul to building an educational space. He believed that the respect for human rights pursued by studying abroad would be realized when his green salary and private expenses were added to prepare an educational space, cultivating talented people, and learning and teaching abroad were fully achieved.
Yoon Kwangan showed the behavior of Mokmin-gwan with frugality and integrity in the attitude of a person who ruled a country that valued the lives of the people. He valued the human rights of the people by fulfilling his duties as a ruler based on the consciousness of the people so that the lives of the people would not be devastated. The record was confirmed in Jeong Yakyong's "Mokminsimseo" and in the article <據梧軒記> The letter referring to ‘四海同胞’, which means that all people in the world are like brothers, shows a critical consciousness of social reality, and emphasizes the spirit of philanthropy, brotherhood, and humanity, which sees compatriots and the Dead Sea equally and loves everyone.
In addition, <朴烈婦傳>, which emphasized respect for women's lives, criticized society's excessive notion of women at the time and revealed a sense of problem about women's death, undermining the dignity of life and pointing out the social image of the time when women's human rights were lacking.
Park's passionate behavior was valued in respect for life in the words of an adult called "‘不以死傷生’" and made him realize the lack of human rights awareness in the male-centered Joseon society at the time. It is an example of human rights awareness that all human lives regardless of status and gender should be valued and respected, and it is a difference that only Yun Kwang-an has compared to other Yeolnyeojeon.
Yoon Kwang-an is an intellectual who has shown the true nature of Confucian scholars through research, confirming once again that human rights awareness of human respect is a universal value for mankind.
