18세기 후반 무안 병산사의 건립과 무안박씨 (The Construction of Byungsansa in the Later 18th Century and Muan Parks’Family)

초록

이 글은 전라도 무안의 병산사를 통해 18세기 문중사우의 건립 실태와 기
능을 규명하기 위해 작성되었다. 18세기 전라도 무안지역에는 각 성씨별 門
中祠宇가 건립되었다. 그 중 무안박씨의 문중사우인 병산사는 18세기 후반
동족마을을 기반으로 설립되었다. 무안박씨는 무안지역에 현전하는 유일한
土姓이다. 무안박씨의 단초는 고려때 朴進昇으로부터 연원한다. 이후 무안
박씨 후손들이 무안읍·청계면·현경면 등에 입향하여 동족마을을 형성하
였다. 이러한 문중적 기반을 바탕으로 정자, 효자각 등이 건립되고 문중사
우인 병산사 설립으로 연결된다. 병산사 건립은 후손들을 중심으로 무안박
씨 遠祖, 入鄕祖, 顯祖, 派始祖등이 배향되었다. 병산사는 토지를 희사 받
거나 매득하여 경제적 기반을 구축해 나갔으며, 교육장소, 문중회의 장소,
사림들과의 교유장소 등의 기능을 하였다.

영어초록

Many different sorts of Seowons(書院) and Sawoos(祠宇) had
been jumbled up more than three hundreds all over the country
by the reign of Sukjong in the later Chosun Dynasty. They had
different aspects from the progress of the construction in early
days of it. In other words, when seowans and Sawoos in early
days had been constructed for the purpose of encouraging and
pursuing learning and religious service for academical
predecessors centering around Salim(士林), family Sawoos
constructed in 18th century had different character from previous
ones in aspect of leading power, the person enshrined, and so on.
In this way, family Sawoos(門中祠宇) constructed took significant
part as country organization closely related to country society
changing in the later Chosun. So, this study is to review the
examples of Family Sawoos of Muan Parks’in Muan region,
Jeollanamdo as a case study of a region.
Muan Parks’Family(務安朴氏) is the only toseong(土姓)
remained in Muan and has lived in that region since Park Jinseung
took Muan as his Family origin. It is Park Ik-kyung who
began to reside in Muan in earnest. He went through hardship by
the incident of Danjong’s restoration, and moved into Muan with
his brother, Park Hahing-kyung. In other words, Park Ik-kyung
moved into Kojeoli(高節里) in Muaneup, Park Hahng-kyung,
Yanfhakli(養鶴里) in Hyunkyungmyun(玄慶面), which was decisive
in the growth of Muan Parks’Family as a principle Family of
surnames. Since then, the community of the family lineage(同族)
of Muan Parks’Family had been formed in the whole Kojeoli and
Maekokli(梅谷里) in Muan. Family activities based on that
appeared, which became the motive of the construction of Family
Sawoos.
The leading power of the construction of Byungsansa(柄山祠)
was descendants of family mainly, which assumed form of the
active participation in the management of Family Sawoos in
various form such as each family’s being on the staff,
descendants’participation in the management of financial affairs
of seowon, and so on. The ancestors took religious service reveals
the character of Family Sawoos, and wonjo(遠祖), iphyangjo(入鄕
祖), hyunjo(顯祖), pasijo(派始祖), and so forth were took religious
service in Byungsansa’s case. and so on.
The economical foundation should be supported to manage
sowoos conatructed in this way, so it was settled in Byungsansa
itself, which was performed through donation or buying of the
land of Sawoos in various form. The function of Byungsansa
contains the educational place of family descendants, the place for
family meeting, and the place for association with Salim in the
country and played an important role. Such function is to make
secure or keep the family position in the country society all the
more.
