알렉산더 맥퀸의 투명성 패션 디자인에 대한 미적 고찰 (A Aesthetic Study on the Transparent Fashion Design by Alexander McQueen‘s)

초록

투명성의 개념은 큐비즘으로부터 새로운 공간 개념의 도입을 시도하는 데서 나타나 건축에서 공간의 표현 방법으로 활용되었으며 예술에서는 재료의 다양성을 바탕으로 실험적으로 수용되어왔다. 패션에서 투명성은 빛에반응하는 재질에 의해 발현되며, 이때 투명, 반투명, 불투명, 투명과 불투명의 대비의 시각적 상태에 의해 투명성 디자인이 표출되는데 이러한 투명성의 시지각적 특성을 바탕으로 알렉산더 맥퀸의 투명성 디자인의 미적 특성을 도출하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 사례 선정에 있어 알렉산더 맥퀸을 선정한 이유는 투명성은 재료의 특성이 바탕이 되므로 맥퀸의 디자인에서 소재의 실험성이 탁월하다고 판단되었기 때문이다. 연구 방법은 문헌연구와 사례연구를 병행하였으며 구체적 연구의 방법으로 첫째, 투명성의 용어 정의를 하고 조형 예술 분야에서 투명성의 특성을 문헌을 중심으로 고찰함으로써 연구의 토대를 마련하였다. 둘째, 알렉산더 맥퀸 RTW(Rady toWear)의 여성복, 1995 f/w~2010년 s/s까지 전체 발표된 1771개 작품 중, 투명성 패션이라 판단되는472개의 작품을 www. vogue.com를 통해 수집하였고 전문가 검증으로 분류된 357개의 2차 자료를 중심으로 디자인 요소인 실루엣 및 아이템, 색채, 소재 및 재질감, 표현 방법 순으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 맥퀸의 투명성 디자인 에서는 재료의 가시성으로 착시, 감추지 않고 드러내는 기능, 중첩 등으로 습색과 부유감 등의 효과와 불투명의 투명성으로는 빛의 반사에 의한 불투명과, 비가시적 재료에 현대 테크놀로지가 반영된 조작적 투명성으로 재질의 미적 확장으로 표출되었으며, 관능성, 환상성, 낭만성, 유희성, 원시성의 미적 특징이 나타났다.

영어초록

The concept of transparency appeared from attempting the introduction of a new space conceptfrom the cubism and was used as a way to express the space in the architecture and has beenaccepted experimentally based on the diversity of material in the art. The transparency isrevealed by the material reacting to the light in the fashion, at this time, the transparencydesign is expressed by the visual state of transparency, translucency, opacity, contrast oftransparency and opacity; the purpose of study is to draw the aesthetic feature of thetransparency design by Alexander McQueen based on the visual-perceptive feature of thistransparency. The reason for choosing Alexander McQueen in choosing the case was because theexperimentation of material was excellent in the McQueen’s design because the transparencywas based on the property of the material. The literature study and the case study were carriedout at the same time. As for the concrete study, first, the foundation of study was arranged bydefining the term of transparency and considering the feature of transparency focusing on theliterature in the formative art field. Second, among 1771 works announced from 1994f/w~2010s/s, female clothes by Alexander McQueen RTW(Rady to Wear), 472 works judged tobe the transparency fashion were collected through www.vogue.com and they were analyzed inorder of the silhouette and item, color and color contrast, material and texture, and expressionmethod focusing on the 357 secondary materials classified by the expert verification. As a result,in McQueen’s transparency design, the optical illusion, revealing function, overlapping, effect ofexpressing the color delicately, and gravity-free feeling appeared in terms of visibility ofmaterial. And in terms of transparency of opacity, it was expressed as the opacity by reflectionof light, operational transparency that the modern technology was reflected in the invisiblematerial, and aesthetic expansion of the material. The aesthetic feature of sensuality, fantasy,romance, amusement, aboriginality appeared. It was confirmed through this study that McQueencreated a new image by means of the transparency and by analyzing the tradition, history, raceof the attire, emphasizing the contrast in the process of recombination, and reconstituting theconcept of complete opposite. It is significant in having contributed to the expansion of the newaesthetic possibility against the existing beauty and the expansion of transparency design to theoriginative design based on the indulgence in a transparent new material.
