초록

이 논문은 1920~30년대 신문 매체에 등장하는 전기문과 야담 작품을 대상으로 이 시기 인물사 중심의 독서물의 주요 내용과 서사 양식 변화가 갖는 의미를 규명하는 데 목표를 둔다. 인물사 독서물은 인물의 행적을 중심으로 한다는 점에서 역사적 교훈뿐만 아니라 문학적 서사 차원에서도 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 1920년대 신문 매체에서 인물사에 관심을 기울인 것은 일제강점기 역사교육의 부재 상황과 관련된다. 즉 식민 상황에서 조선 역사는 일본사의 부속으로 간주되었고 그나마도 적절하게 교수되지 않았다. 그러한 제약 속에서 역사적 인물의 전기나 그와 관련된 이야기는 역사교육의 대체 역할을 하게 된다. 그리고 1920년대 중반 이후부터는 문화운동과 민족운동 차원에서 조선의 전설 채집이나 야담운동이 활발하게 전개되면서 보다 다양한 인물사 독서물이 양산되기에 이른다. 이 과정 속에서 비록 서술자의 감정 과잉과 문체상의 혼란 등도 나타났지만, 인물 서사문학의 발달 및 역사적 해석을 바탕으로 한 평전의 등장 가능성 차원에서 인물사 독서물 발전에 기여하였다.

영어초록

This thesis started with the goal of examining the changes in the readings of the history of figures in the 1920s and 30s in the Dong-A Ilbo and the Chosun Ilbo, assuming the planning intention and distribution situation of these type readings during the Japanese colonial period. The history of figures are important not only for historical lessons but also for literary narrative in that they focus on the actions of characters. In the sense that such reading materials are planned according to the needs of the times and society, it is meaningful to examine the background and distribution situation of the people’s history readings during the Japanese colonial period.
The newspaper media’s interest in the history of figures in the 1920s is closely related to the absence of history education during the Japanese colonial period. In other words, in the colonial context, Joseon history is not regarded as an appendage of Japanese history, nor is it adequately taught. In order to supplement this, the biography of historical figures and related stories had to be emphasized. Although the subject of biography was expanded to the world’s great women according to the mood of the times, from the mid-1920s onwards, we became interested in the study of Joseon on our own in terms of cultural and national movements, and accordingly, the collection of legends of Joseon and the YADAMUNDONG(tales movement) were developed. did. The produced legends and tales also had the effect of broadening the scope of the target character and inducing a lively character narrative. Although this type of work showed excessive emotionality and stylistic confusion of the narrator, it also contributed to the development of character history readings in terms of the development of character narrative literature and the possibility of the appearance of a biography based on historical interpretation.
