구어에서의 ‘-지’ 의문문 사용 양상 고찰 -드라마 자료를 중심으로- (A Study on the Use of Final Ending `-ji' in Korean Language Conversation-Based on Drama Scripts)

초록

This study aims to reveal the usage patterns and characteristics of how the Korean spoken word final ending `-ji' is used in questions to help foreign Korean learners learn spoken grammar. The research data uses drama scripts. Through data analysis, we examined how the use of the final ending `-ji' varies depending on the gender and social relationship of discourse participants and analyzed the characteristics and types of `-ji' questions. The final ending `-ji' is used in an explicit and implicit state of information sharing between speakers, is restricted by the speaker's position, and is often used among family members, friends, and colleagues regardless of gender. The main types are Yes-No questions, wh-questions, contrast questions, reflexive questions, request questions, and rhetorical questions not used in the “alternative questions”. The final ending `-ji' is a `speaker-centric' ending that checks and demands information from listeners, and sometimes serves as one-sided information. This paper proposes to include [speaker-centric] in the main meaning of final ending `-ji.'
