초록

Yuxuan Tang Song wenchun is an anthology of classical proses which was selected, commented and published by Emperor Qianlong and his ministers of Qing Dynasty. In addition to the legendary eight masters in Tang and Song Dynasty, it added to Li Ao and Sun Qiao of Tang Dynasty, and selected, compiled and criticized the proses of ten writers of Tang and Song Dyanasty. It is composed of 58volumes and was first published in the third year of Qianlong’s reign. It was later published several times, and had a great influence on the literary community until the end of the Qing Dynasty.
This paper first analyzed its motives and purpose, and also the aspects of its compilation system, text choices, and criticism. Through this, I have searched for the standard and the direction of Qianlong’s essay writing and criticism in it. In addition, I examined the publication and distribution of Tang Song wenchun and the effects it would have.
In its preface, Qianlong revealed a thought of the classical prose based on the literary thoughts of the Confucian. He inherited the achievements of Emperor Kangxi and Yongzheng, and shaped Confucian classics and Neo-Confucianism as the ideological basis. Tangsognwenchun increased the selection of sentences written by Tang Dynasty writers, this shows a different aspect from the past anthologies published in the Late Ming and early Qing. Also, the criticism of this book focuses more on the social and political utility contained in the contents of the sentence than on the formal elements of the sentence.
Therefore, Tang Song wenchun shows that the ruler directly participates in the criticism activities and uses literary criticism for political purposes to protect and integrate the rule of the Dynasty.
