초록

본 연구는 元好問의 『詩文自警』 ‘15則’을 대상으로 저작시기, 서술방식과 내용을 분석했다. 『시문자경』을 언급한 기록은 『金史; 元好問傳』과 郝經의 『遺山先生墓銘』으로부터 출발하며, 明初에는 이미 소실된 것으로 추정된다. 시문 창작을 위한 학습과 글쓰기 요결이 주를 이루고 있는 ‘15則’의 내용에 비춰 볼 때, 『시문자경』의 저술은 원호문이 詩文을 배우기 시작했던 때부터 만년에 이르기까지 수집과 정리의 과정을 거친 것으로 보인다. ‘15칙’의 서술방식은 시문의 학습이나 창작과 관련된 前人의 주요 어구를 인용하거나, 자신의 이해나 견해를 더하는 방식으로 이뤄졌다. ‘15則’에는 시문 창작 전반에 걸친 다양한 내용이 담겨 있다. 핵심적인 내용을 살펴보면, 첫째, 前人의 典籍에 대해 폭 넓게 독서하되 반드시 체득(熟)에 중점을 두어야 한다, 둘째, 독서의 목적은 올바른 인품의 수양에 있다, 셋째, 미학적 기준으로 ‘中和’적 관점을 제시하여, 변화와 곡절을 추구하되 과도하지 않게 조화와 균형을 유지하고, 문장 전체의 主旨와 연계를 맺어야 한다, 넷째, 지나친 조탁과 모방을 반대하며 前人의 妙處를 체득하여 ‘自成一家’해야 한다, 다섯째, 奇句를 추구하여 전체의 조화를 깨지 않아야 한다 등으로 정리할 수 있다.
‘第9則’에서 글쓰기에서 해야 할 것(要)과 하지 말아야 할 것(不要) 등을 21개 항으로 제시하고, ‘第10則’에서 呂本中의 말을 빌려 올바른 도서의 선택과 핵심 내용을 취하는 예시를 들며, ‘第12則’에서 呂祖謙의 말을 빌려 문장을 보는 관점과 문장을 짓는 요결을 상세하게 밝힌 점 등은, 『시문자경』의 연구 자료적 가치를 보여준다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현재 전하는 ‘15則’의 眞僞에 대한 문제와 少量이라는 한계가 여전히 남아있다.

This study aims to speculate upon the writing date of “Shi Wen Zi Jing(詩文自警)” and analyze the overall narrative style and contents of the “Fifteen items(15則)” based on Yuan-Haowen(元好問)’s “Fifteen items” in the “Shi Wen Zi Jing.” “Shi Wen Zi Jing” was first mentioned in “Jinshi(金史); Yuan-Haowenzhuan(元好問傳)” and Hao Jing(郝經)’s “Yishan Xiansheng Muming(遺山先生墓銘)” and is assumed to have already been destroyed by the early Ming(明) era. The fact that the “Fifteen items” mainly discuss poetry-writing education and essential writing skills infers that “Shi Wen Zi Jing” was published under Yuan-Haowen’s extensive, long-term process, spanning from his early years of poetry education to his later years in life, of assembling and organizing luinformation. The “Fifteen items” overall narrative unfolds by quoting predecessors’ words related to poetry education and composition or by adding Yuan-Haowen’s personal comments and opinions. Most of its contents are concise yet still fully manage to holistically discuss various topics related to poetry writing. “The Fifteen items” key points roughly include: first, try to read a wide range of the predecessor’s publications but also focus on making it your own; second, the true purpose of reading is in cultivating your personality; third, strive to argue in an aesthetically “neutral” way, by aiming to pursue dynamic in your writing while maintaining overall balance and appropriately linking your words with the central theme of the sentence; fourth, refrain from excessive elaboration and emulation but instead, seek to thoroughly acquaint yourself with the predecessor’s writing and endeavor to develop your own style based on it; fifth, you should not destroy the overall balance of the text by only focusing on trying to write clever phrases.
Above all, the fact that the “Fifteen items” provide detailed descriptions of “what to do” and “what not to do” in practical writing over twenty-one clauses in the ninth item, quote Lü-Benzhong(呂本中) to give specific examples of selecting good books and incorporating its benefits in the tenth item, and elaborate the way to view sentences and provide vital skills to write them through Lü-Zuqian(呂祖謙)’s words in the twelfth item shows that “Shi Wen Zi Jing” possesses great material value in the study of Yuan-Haowen’s poetry composition and criticism theory. Nevertheless, the problem of authenticity and lack of quantity of the “Fifteen items” still poses limits to the study to this day.
