蘇武를 제재로 한 科表 창작의 시대적 동인과그 양상 (The historical impetus underlying the creation of Kwap'yo[科表] and its implementation)

초록

If literary works on some historical figures emerges abundantly over a specific period, it can be hypothesized that it reflects the demands of the time.
This paper exploits this new approach to analyze Kwap'yo[科表] which covers a history as its topic. This paper will scrutinize the underlying impetus for Kwap'yo of which the subject is Su-Wu[蘇武] in particular and how it revealed through the works.
It is presumed that the Japanese invasions the Manchu invasion during the Joseon dynasty drove the creation of Kwap'yo regarding Su-Wu, and the reasons are as follows.
First, the figures who has suffered as hostages during the two major invasion began to appear in the contemporary literature. Also, they were depicted as a Su-Wu of Joseon, and the hostages themselves intended to refer Su-Wu in their work so as to comfort their situation. These contexts would have elevated the attention to Su-Wu, and the production of Kwap'yo related to Su-Wu can be appreciated in the same vein as well.
Second, It is inevitable to acknowledge the interrelation between the time and the production of the articles, considering that Kwap'yo served as a means to assess one’s political performance. Finally, the articles created during the time of two invasions include a motif of ‘the reward for Su-Wu’s royalty’, which differentiates them from the works of other periods.
In addition, Kwap'yo which includes Su-Wu as its topic exploits several motives of historical events. Based on these motives, the writers composed the articles by embracing the historical contexts in which they were involved and by embellishing the works with their imaginations. In other words, these works of the time broadened and reproduced the narratives from the historical records, and that is where the works achieved its literary values.
