초록

본 논문은 1920년대 중반에 결성된 '순천무산자동맹회(順天無産者同盟會)'의실체를 살펴봄으로써 사상단체가 지역사회에서 어떠한 활동을 했는지를 밝힌 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 순천무산자동맹회의 활동 기간과 주요 구성원, 그리고 활동 양상 등을 구체적으로 검토하였다. 연구의 배경이 되는 전라남도 순천은 1920년대 초중반에 소작쟁의가 폭발적으로 분출한 지역이었다. 그 이유는순천이 다른 지역에 비해 소수의 대지주에 의한 토지집중으로 자작농의 몰락이심화되었기 때문이다. 그래서 1920년대 순천 지역은 농업생산력이 높았음에도불구하고 지주의 수탈에 저항하는 소작 농민들의 집단행동이 적극적으로 펼쳐졌다. 순천의 가장 차별적인 특징은 청년운동으로 시작된 사회운동이 농민운동과결합하면서 더욱 활발해졌다는 점이다. 이와 마찬가지로 순천무산자동맹회도 농민운동과 긴밀한 관련을 맺는 경향이 있었다. 먼저, 순천무산자동맹회는 문헌상 확인할 수 있는 활동 기간은 1924년 1월부터 1926년 3월까지이다. 이 가운데 1924년 7월~1925년 2월은 순천무산자동맹회의 침체기라고 할 수 있다. 아마도 이 침체 국면은 1924년 7~8월에 있었던검거 선풍(일명 절초동맹 사건)과 긴밀했던 것으로 보았다. 이는 절초동맹 사건관계자들이 1925년 3월에 석방되면서 순천무산자동맹회 관련 기사가 다시 등장하는 사실에서도 알 수 있다. 마찬가지로 1926년 3월을 기점으로 순천무산자동맹회가 사라진 것은 그해 6월에 일어났던 제2차 조선공산당 사건과 전혀 무관하지 않아 보인다. 신문 기사에서 포착할 수 있는 순천무산자동맹회의 활동 기간은 지역사회운동의 성쇠와 궤를 함께 했다. 이러한 특성은 순천무산자동맹회의 구성원을 통해서 살펴볼 수 있다. 순천무산자동맹회의 주요 구성원은 대략 25명쯤 되는데, 조직의 핵심 인사인 이창수와이영민은 농민운동에 주도적으로 참여한 청년들이 순천청년회에서 이탈하여 순천무산자동맹회로 결집한 사례에 해당한다. 후배 그룹인 김봉수, 김봉민, 정성기, 김계일, 김성록은 노동운동이나 언론 활동을 통해 사회주의자로 성장하였다. 특히 정성기와 김계일이 북성회 기관지 척후대의 기자였다는 사실은 순천무산자동맹회가 북성회(이후 북풍회)와 밀접했다는 것을 시사한다. 그러면서도 순천무산자동맹회는 화요파가 추진한 민중운동자대회를 적극적으로 지지하였다. 이는조선공산당 창당 과정에서 이루어진 화요파와 북풍회의 연대가 순천무산자동맹회를 통해 집약적으로 나타난 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 순천무산자동맹회의 활동은 실업자 구제, 노동단체 간친회, 순회강연을 통한사회주의 사상의 선전, '반동세력 박멸(일명 무농적빈회 사건)', 다른 사회운동단체와의 공조, 반기독교운동 등이었다. 순천무산자동맹회는 결성 이후 실업자문제에 관심을 가지고 실업자 구제를 위한 다양한 해결 방안들을 모색하였다. 또한 순천무산자동맹회는 노동단체 간친회를 개최하여 노동운동을 조직화하려고했지만, 순천의 지역적 특성상 소작쟁의에 집중하였다. 당시 순천농민대회연합회는 소작 농민들의 '각성'과 '연대'를 위해 순회강연을 적극적으로 추진하였다. 순천무산자동맹회는 이 순회강연에 결합하여 지역사회의 저변에 계급의식을 선전해 나갔다. 순천농민대회연합회의 주요 지도자들이 사상단체의 일원이었던 것만큼, 사실상 순회강연은 순천무산자동맹회가 주도한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이후순천무산자동맹회는 농민연합회관으로 입주한 후 농민운동과의 공조를 더욱 긴밀하게 추진하였다.

This paper is a study that reveals the activities of the socialist ideology group in the local community by examining the reality of the 'Suncheon Proletariat Association', which was formed in the mid-1920s.
For this purpose, this paper specifically reviewed the activity period, main members, and activity aspects of the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance. Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, the background of the study, was an area where peasantry disputes erupted explosively in the early and mid-1920s. The reason is that in Suncheon, compared to other regions, the decline of independent farmers worsened due to concentration of land by a small number of large landowners. Therefore, despite the fact that the Suncheon region had high agricultural productivity in the 1920s, collective action by peasantry to resist landowners' exploitation took place actively. The most distinctive feature of Suncheon is that the social movement, which started as a youth movement, became more active as it combined with the peasant movement. Likewise, the Suncheon Proletariat Association also tended to be closely related to the peasant movement.
First, the period of activity of the Suncheon Proletariat Association that can be confirmed in the literature is from January 1924 to March 1926. Among these, July 1924 to February 1925 can be said to be a period of stagnation for the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance. Perhaps this stagnation phase was closely related to the arrest storm that occurred in July and August of 1924 (the so-called Jeolcho Alliance Incident).
This can also be seen in the fact that articles related to the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance reappeared when those involved in the Jeolcho Alliance incident were released in March 1925. Likewise, the disappearance of the Suncheon Proletariat Association starting in March 1926 does not seem to be completely unrelated to the Second Joseon Communist Party Incident that occurred in June of that year. The period of activity of the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance, which can be captured in newspaper articles, coincided with the rise and fall of local social movements.
These characteristics can be observed through the members of the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance. The main members of the Suncheon Proletariat Association are approximately 25 people, and the key figures of the organization, Lee Chang-su(李昌洙) and Lee Young-min(李 榮珉), are examples of young people who actively participated in the peasant movement breaking away from the Suncheon Youth Association and gathering into the Suncheon Proletariat Association. The junior group, Kim Bong-su(金鳳洙), Kim Bong-min(金奉珉), Jeong Seong-gi(鄭成 基), Kim Gye-il(金啓鎰), and Kim Seong-rok(金成祿), grew into socialists through labor movement and media activities. In particular, the fact that Jeong Seong-gi and Kim Gye-il were reporters for Bukseonghoe's organ, Chuckudae, suggests that the Suncheon Proletariat Association was closely related to Bukseonghoe (later Bukpunghoe). Nevertheless, the Suncheon Proletariat Association actively supported the people's activist rally promoted by the Tuesday faction. This can be seen as an intensive manifestation of the solidarity between the Tuesday faction and the Bukpunghoe formed during the founding of the Korean Communist Party through the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance.
The activities of the Suncheon Proletariat Alliance included relief for the unemployed, labor group meetings, propaganda of socialist ideas through lecture tours, 'extermination of reactionary forces (aka 無農赤貧 會 事件)', cooperation with other social movement groups, and anti-Christian movements. Since its formation, the Suncheon Proletariat Association has been interested in the issue of unemployment and has sought various solutions to relieve the unemployed. In addition, the Suncheon Proletariat Association attempted to organize the labor movement by holding a meeting of labor organizations, but due to the regional characteristics of Suncheon, it focused on the tenancy dispute.
At that time, the Suncheon Farmers' Congress Association actively promoted lecture tours for the 'awakening' and 'solidarity' of peasantry.
The Suncheon Proletariat Association joined this lecture tour and promoted class consciousness at the bottom of the local community. As the main leaders of the Suncheon Peasant Association were members of the socialist ideology group, it can be said that the lecture tour was actually led by the Suncheon Proletariat Association. Afterwards, the Suncheon Proletariat Association moved into the Farmers' Union Hall and promoted closer cooperation with the peasant movement.
