북한 찬송시의 수령 우상화와 무의식적 신화 유형 (Odes to the Leader of North Korea for the Idolization and Mythological Type in Unconscious Mind)

초록

본고는 1950년 한국 전후 시기 이후 북한시의 송가와 찬가를 김일성 주체사상을 강화시키기 위한 수령 우상화 방법으로 보고, 찬송시에 나타난 ‘심장’을 중심으로 심리학자 융이 주장한 무의식적 심리에 관한 신화적 유형으로 파악하는 데 있다.
살펴본 북한 찬송시편들은 ‘김일성 주체사상’을 선동하는 ‘수령 우상화’과정으로 영웅 신화를 형성하고 있다는 점이다. 이러한 찬송시에서 공통적으로 두드러지는 중심 시어는 ‘심장’으로 파악되는데, 여기서 심장은 김일성을 우상화하기 위한 핵심 키워드로, 신화적 상상력과 함께 구현되고 있다. 이로써 찬송시는 무의식적으로 당의 지배 이념과 통치 논리를 ‘인민’들에게 교양시키는 이데올로기의 장치로써 주체사상과 더불어 김일성을 영원불멸한 신화적 영웅으로 재구성하고 있다. 나아가 찬송시는 김일성이라는 ‘역사적 영웅’을 ‘민족적 태양’으로 개인에 대한 위대성의 표현이 아니라 집단적 무의식의 산물로 ‘신화적 영웅’을 노래하고 있다. 거기에 주체사상을 창시한 김일성의 사회주의 혁명위업을 강조하며 수령이 당을 대표하는 것뿐만 아니라 당을 함의하는 존재로서 그 자체가 당을 있게 한 절대적 존재라는 점이다.
찬송시에서 수령의 위대한 영웅적 힘은 무의식적으로 집단적 신화로 재구성되어 인민에게 삼투되어 인민의 신화적 영웅으로 파급된다. 이는 인민들에게 김일성을 무의식적으로 신과 동격으로 보게 하는데, 수령을 신격화하면서 무지한 인민들을 각성시켜 혁명의 주체로 인식하게 한다. 거기에 찬송시에 핵심 단어인 ‘심장’을 주입시켜 생명의 공급원으로써 김일성을 ‘민족의 태양’으로 구체화하는 모티브로 구현된다. 이처럼 북한의 역사는 민족의 태양인 수령에 의해 탄생되었으며, 역사의 주인인 김일성만이 민족 해방과 구원의 유일한 존재로 표방되고 있다.
이 글에서 찬송시는 저항할 수 없는 무의식과 함께 김일성 영웅 신화를 집단적으로 받아들이며 심미적으로 찬양하는 것에서 출발한다. 그러면서 자신의 삶을 신성에 참여하는 고유한 의미의 주체로서 주체사상과 통합하고 조화시키려고 하는 것에 당위성을 두며 유일한 지도자 수령에게 응답하는데 삶의 최우선 가치를 가진다. 융은 이러한 신화 유형을 “신화적, 집단적, 심미적”으로 분리시켜 해명하고 있는데, 이를 본고의 주된 연구방법으로 사용하여 북한의 찬송시에 나타난 시편들을 세 가지 유형으로 구분하여 분석했다. 이를 토대로 찬송시에서 두드러지게 나타나는 심장을 중심으로 첫째 수령에의 충성과 민족 영웅, 둘째 사회주의 건설과 집단적 원형성, 셋째 예술적인 근원과 심미적 역동성 등으로 신화 유형을 밝혔다.

영어초록

North Korea’s odes and hymns have been regarded as the idolization method to strengthen the self-reliance ideology of Kim Il-sung, the first leader of North Korea, since the 1950 Korean War. The purpose of this article is to assert that based on the image of “heart” that appeared in the hymns, the odes to the leader of North Korea are a mythological type of unconscious psychology claimed by Carl Gustav Jung.
The North Korean hymns we have examined are the process of forming a heroic myth as an unconscious expression to “Kim Il-sung’s self-reliance ideology” and “the idolization of the leader.” In particular, a central poetic word in North Korea’s odes to the leader is “heart.” “Heart” is a keyword for idolizing Kim Il-sung, which is being implemented with mythical imagination. This is the fact that hymn is unconsciously a device of ideology that cultures the ruling ideology and governing logic of the party to the “people” and reconstructs Kim Il-sung as an immortal mythical hero along with the self-reliance ideology. Furthermore, the North Korea’s hymns sing the “mythical hero” of Kim Il-sung as the “National Sun,” not as an expression of greatness to the individual, but as a product of collective unconsciousness. On top of that, emphasizing the revolutionary feats of Kim Il-sung, who established the self-reliance ideology, the leader is not only a representative of the party but also a mythical hero who formed the party itself.
The great heroic power of the leader shown in the hymn poetry is unconsciously reconstructed into a collective myth, osmotic to the people and spilling into the mythical hero of the people. This makes the people see Kim Il-sung unconsciously with God, deifies the leader and awakens the ignorant people to recognize him as the main body of the revolution. It is embodied as a motif to embody Kim Il-sung as “the Sun of the People” as a source of life by injecting the keyword “heart” into the hymn poetry. As such, the history of North Korea was created by the leader, “the Sun of the People”, and Kim Il-sung, the master of history, is the only mythical hero of national liberation and salvation.
These hymns start with a sense of irresistible unconsciousness, collectively accepting the Kim Il-sung as a mythical hero and glorifying him aesthetically. In the meantime, he has the highest priority in responding to the sole leader, having justification in trying to integrate and harmonize his life with the self-reliance ideology as the main body of meaning that participates in the divinity. Jung explains this type of myth by separating it into “mythical, collective, and aesthetic,” which analyzed the psalms presented in North Korea's hymn in three different types as the main research method. Based on this, the heart image, which stands out in the hymn poetry, was firstly revealed as loyalty to the leader and national hero, secondly as socialist construction and collective symbolism, and lastly as artistic source and aesthetic prototype.
