태권무의 무무(舞武)적 가치 탐색 (An Exploration on Matial-dance Value in Taekwonmoo)

초록

본 연구는 우리나라의 전통춤인 ‘한국무용’과 전통무예인 ‘태권도’의 만남을 통해 새롭게 탄생한 ‘태권무’를 토대로, 두 구성요소의 전통적 사상과 유사한 동작들을 살펴봄으로써 태권무의 무무(舞武)적 가치를 탐색하고자 하였다. 따라서 태권도를 예술화 또는 무대화하여 실시하고 있는 여러 공연물들을 비교․분석함으로써 태권무의 가치를 드높일 수 있는 가능성을 모색하고, 이에 나타난 논리를 토대로 질적 연구방법 중 하나인 심층면담기법을 통해 태권무의 미래지향적 발전방향을 탐색한 것이다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 태권무는 태권도와 무용의 만남을 통해 무대예술화를 추구해야 하며, 반드시 한국적인 내용을 담은 주제로 안무되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 태권무는 태권도를 전공하거나 무용을 전공한 사람을 일시적으로 모여서 공연을 하는 것이 아닌, 태권도를 전공한 사람이 무용을, 무용을 전공한 사람이 태권도를 배움으로써 보다 조화로운 태권무로 거듭나야 할 것이다. 셋째, 태권무는 우리나라 전통문화를 알릴 수 있는 문화유산으로서 외교적 가치를 창출하여 국위선양은 물론 가장 한국적인 것이 가장 세계적인 것이라는 것을 일깨워 줄 수 있는 한국문화예술로 거듭날 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This research is to find the value and possibility to increase the value of Taekwonmoo by studying various existing performances played, and based upon theories appeared from this, to explore the course of successfully distribute to the world as a genre called Taekwonmoo, by constructing similar movements with Korean characteristic from both Korean traditional dance and Taekwondo.
Therefore the researcher has formed a theoretical logic through study of many documents and literature, and obtained following conclusions in a result of exploration of Taekwonmoo's course of development through qualitative research with Taekwondo specialists and Korean traditional dance specialists:1. Taekwonmoo must be choreographed with Korean theme so to become a stage art through the cross of Taekwondo and Korean dance, different from other genre with the focus on health and amusement, that is, recreation. Especially, the basis theory of choreography must be composited based on Korean content, and music and other materials and story must contain Korean content.
2. Taekwonmoo, Taekwon-Exercise, Taekwon-Robic, Tae-Bo, and Lee-Kwon must have gave birth to a new genre which combines various kinds of martial arts, including Taekwondo, with sport. Above all, Taekwondo especially seeks for the development into a stage art, therefore contains the possibility of becoming a cultural inheritance representing Korea, and this could be a new leap to the future for both Taekwondo and dance. However, to have the most valid suitability of such Taekwonmoo, it must not be a performance of a long-term Taekwondo trainee who learns to dance, and gather temporarily just for the show. It should rather be a performance by a dance specialist who learns Taekwondo, and make it a true Taekwonmoo by making a clear and accurate expression of Taekwondo and dance movements, different in the speed, moderation, and rhythm of the movement.
3. Grafting of martial art part of Taekwondo and artistic part of dance, Taekwonmoo is considered to amplify the value of dance which contains the peculiar content of Korea and Taekwondo, a national sport of Korea, create diplomatic value as a cultural inheritance to distribute traditional culture of Korea. Therefore, it enhance national glory, and become a most excellent tool to awaken eyes that something most Korean is most international.
