영남지방 목곽묘 부장 양이부난형호의 출현과 사회적 의미 (Appearance and social meaning of Egg shaped jar with two lugs buried in the Wooden chamber Tomb of the Yeongnam Province)

초록

이 글은 영남지방 목곽묘 부장 양이부난형호의 출현과 사회적 의미에 주목하여 접근하였다. 그 결과 양이부난형호는 현재 자료에 의하면 경주와 울산지역에 집중되어 경주권역을 중심으로 전개된다. 양이부난형호의 편년은 기존의 연구 성과에 적용하면 기원 3세기 중엽에 출현하여 기원 4세기 전엽까지 존속한다.
양이부난형호의 지역별 출현양상은 기원 3세기 중엽에 경주와 포항, 대구지역에서 처음 출현하는데, 특히 경주지역은 기원 4세기 전엽까지 연속하고 출토량도 가장 많아 그 중심에 있다. 울산지역은 기원 3세기 후엽에 출현하여 4세기 초까지 확인되고 출토량도 경주 다음이다. 반면에 포항, 대구지역은 양이부난형호의 부장이 제한적으로 확인되어 대조적이다.
양이부난형호와 경주식 목곽묘의 출현을 결부시켜 사회적 의미는 다음과 같이 해석하였다. 즉 사로국의 각 읍락은 대개 단일한 세력이 아니라 복수의 세력들로 구성되어 있어 하나의 정치체로 이끌어 내기 위해 사회결속은 반드시 필요로 했을 것인데, 이를 위해 사로의 선택은 의례에 초점을 두었을 가능성을 제기하였다.
결국 의례에는 사회질서를 정당화하거나 정치적 계기들이 들어 있고 또한 혁신과 변화를 의미하기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 복수의 세력들간 사회결속은 분쟁보다 의례를 통한 사회질서를 정당화한 합의로 이끌어 내는 것이 더 합리적이고 경제적이다.
특히 고고학적 현상으로 볼 때 기원 3세기 중엽에 출현하는 양이부난형호, 난형단경호, 신선로형토기와 경주식 목곽묘 등은 혁신과 변화의 중심에 있어 이를 방증한다.
또 양이부난형호, 난형단경호, 신선로형토기와 경주식 목곽묘의 분포 범위는 사로국과의 관련성에 접근할 수 있는 자료가 될 것으로 해석하였다.

영어초록

This writing paid attention and made an approach to appearance and social meaning of Egg shaped jar with two lugs buried in the wooden chamber tomb of Yeongnam Province. As a result, according to the present data, the egg shaped jar was intensively excavated in the Gyeongju and Ulsan area and became prevalent around the Gyeongju area.
If chronology of the egg shaped jar is applied to existing research results, it appears in the mid-3rd century AD and continues until the early 4th century.
With respect to appearance of the egg shaped jar in each area, it first appeared in Gyeongju and Daegu area in the middle of 3rd century AD and especially, Gyeongju area continued its appearance until the early 4th century AD and has the largest amount of excavated artifacts. Gyeongju is the center of the appearance. And, it appeared in the Ulsan area in the late 3rd century AD and was existed until the early 4th century with second largest amount of excavated artifacts. On the other hand, it contrasts that burial of the egg shaped jar was confirmed with a very small quantity in the pohang, Daegu area.
The social meanings according to appearance of the egg shaped jar and Gyeongju wooden chamber tomb are interpreted as follows. In other words, each of the towns of Saroguk was usually composed of plural powers rather than a single power and therefore, social unity was absolutely necessary to build them into a political system.
Because of the political situation, it seems that Saroguk focused on rituals.
Because the rituals eventually justify social hierarchy or contain political momentum and also mean innovation and change, the combination of powers through religious ritual rather than forced merger is more reasonable and economical to lead social hierarchy to a fair agreement.
Especially archeological phenomenon, it’s appeared in the center of innovation and change in the middle of the 3rd century AD those’re Egg shaped jar with two lugs, Egg shaped jar with short neck, Chafing dish shaped earthenware, and Gyeongju wooden chamber tomb.
In addition, the distribution range of Egg shaped jar with two lugs, Egg shaped jar with short neck, and Chafing dish shaped earthenware as well as Gyeongju wooden chamber tomb was interpreted as the data that can access to the relation with the Saroguk.
