탑동 적석목곽묘를 통해 본 신라 장송의례의 원칙과 변용 (Principles and Transformation of the Royal Ritual of Silla through the of Wooden Chamber Tombs with stone mound in Top-dong)

초록

신라의 적석목곽묘를 중심으로 한 장송의례 연구는 차별화에 집중되었기 때문에, 의례의 보편 성에 대한 검토는 미흡한 측면이 있다. 따라서 이 논문은 경주 탑동 적석목곽묘에서 확인되는 장 송의례 양상을 검토하여, 신라 장송의례의 보편성과 다양성을 원칙과 변용이라는 관점으로 나누어 검토해 보고자 한다.
탑동유적의 적석목곽묘에서는 바닥정지의례, 납관의례(納棺儀禮), 곽 상부의례, 봉토의례, 묘사가 확인되었다. 이 중 조묘집단의 의도적인 선택을 통해 진행된 의례는 매장주체부 내 두상부의 유물 조합과 납관의례와 관련지어 살펴볼 수 있다. 특히 두상부에 부장된 토기의 부장 특징과 철기의 기종별 부장 비율, 유기질제 관이나 협저관의 가능성 등을 통해 탑동에서는 비교적 정성스러 운 납관의례가 진행된 것으로 추정된다.
이러한 사례로 보아 탑동의 적석목곽에서 시행된 장송의례는 유해를 안치하는 과정의 납관의례가 원칙적으로 진행되었고, 그 과정에서 조묘집단의 의도에 따른 다양한 음식공헌의례가 진행된 것으로 보인다. 그리고 잔존한 인골을 통해 피장자의 두향의 규칙성과, 빈장(殯葬)의 가능성을 검토해 보았는데, 탑동 내에서도 비교적 위계가 낮은 적석목곽묘에서는 적극적인 빈장이 고려되지 않았을 가능성도 있다고 판단하였다.
따라서 탑동의 적석목곽묘에서 진행된 장송의례는 전반적으로 월성북고분군들과 동일한 의례 체계를 보이지만, 그 가운데 두상부 부장군에 부장되는 특정 유물 조합이나 납관의례 양상 등에서 나름의 특징적인 모습을 보이므로, 이러한 양상은 탑동 조묘집단들이 시행한 의례 변용이라는 관점에서 이해해 볼 수 있다고 생각한다.

영어초록

Until now, research on the funeral rites of Silla has focused on how extravagant and differentiated the rites were carried out in high-ranking tombs, so there is an aspect that has failed to examine what the universal funeral rites were like in Silla society. Therefore, this paper examines the aspects of funeral rites confirmed at the Wooden Chamber Tombs with Stone Mounds in Tap-dong, Gyeongju, and examines the funeral rites of Silla society by dividing them from the perspectives of principle and transformation.
According to the process of building the tomb, Silla's ritual includes a ritual for the floor, a ritual for laying the body, a ritual for the upper part of the wooden box, a ritual for the mound of the tomb, and a ritual for the tomb.
In particular, the possibility of food rituals centered on specific pottery was confirmed in the pottery buried at the bedside of the body, and the burial of ingots or ceremonial ironware was confirmed in many cases. And since a coffin made of cloth was also confirmed, it is presumed that there was a relatively elaborate ceremony for placing the body.
Judging from these cases, it appears that the funeral rites performed in the Wooden Chamber Tombs with Stone Mounds of Tap-dong were essentially rites for the process of placing the body, and that various food donation rites were carried out in the process according to the choice and social consensus of the group that built the tomb. In addition, the remaining human bones were used to estimate the possibility of the head direction of the subject or the 殯葬, but it is possible that the 殯葬 did not proceed in the relatively low-hierarchy ancient tombs.
Therefore, the tomb ritual held at the Wooden Chamber Tombs with Stone Mounds in Tap-dong has the same ritual system as the 월성북고분군, but among them, certain relics buried at the head of the protagonist are closely related to the ritual of laying the body, so I think this aspect can be understood from the perspective of ritual transformation carried out by the groups who built the tomb of Tap-dong.
