한양조씨(16세기 중후반) 묘 출토복식 연구 (A Study on Excavated Clothes of the Grave of Jo’s Clan of Hanyang in Mid-16th Century)

This study examined the relics of the grave of Jo’s clan of Hanyang excavated during the relocation of Kim’s clan of Andong Clan in Jeonje-myeon, Sejong City on July 24, 2016. First, twenty-one artifacts were excavated from the tomb. There were 15 clothing pieces, including five jangui, five jeogori, one jeoksam, three skirts, one jingnyeong, three mound shrouds, and three casket saddles. Three pieces of mound shrouds were two onang and one soryeomgeum, and three pieces of casket saddle were two pyebaek and myeongjeong. Second, the size of jangui, jeogori, skirt, is large. The width of jangui is from 77cm to 86cm, the width of jeogori is from 64cm to 77 cm, and the width of the skirt is from 420cm to 445cm. These were shown to be typical characteristics of the 16th century. Third, one of the features of the costume in the 16th century is jeoksam with a narrow git. The git of jeoksam was 3.5cm wide, similar to others, particularly the Namwon Yang clan (4cm wide), the Yeonan Kim clan (2.8-7cm), and the Pyeongyang Yi clan (3cm wide). Fourth, most of the fabrics were made of silk, and there were lotus motifs, cloud motifs, flower and auspicious pattern mixed motifs, flower and auspicious letter mixed motifs. The formerly nameless pyeback was excavated from the left side of the casket. Fifth, Jingnyeong, which was excavated from the tomb of a woman, was a typical style of the mid to late 16th century. A study of the excavated doubles of Jo’s clan of Hanyang tombs confirmed that they were typical of women's clothing in the mid- to late 16th century, and the forms and patterns of the robes were similar to relics from Yang’s clan of Namwon and Yi’s clan of Pyeongyang by comparing and analyzing the relics of other tombs of the same period.
