초록

공주와 부여 주변 일대에 분포하는 횡혈묘는 일본 북부구주의 초기 횡혈묘가 수용된 왜계 묘제로서 웅진 천도 직후, 왜와의 교류관계를 파악할 수 있는 중요한 자료이다. 그러나 횡혈묘에서 출토된 철제 농공구류는 전혀 검토되지 못하여 횡혈묘 造墓集團의 성격이 제대로 파악되지 못하고 있다. 이러한 문제의식에서 철제농공구의 器種, 부장상의 특징, 방추차․토기류 등과의 상관관계, 破碎副葬 습속과 사상적 배경 등을 검토해본 결과, 왜계 묘제임에도 불구하고 한성기 이래의 기종 및 부장습속이 유지되고 있었다. 특히 그 배치에 있어서 배타적 관계에 있는 철제농공구와 방추차는 男功之事, 女功之事의 상징적인 유물로서, 3세기 중후엽 이후 西晋과의 교류를 통하여 백제사회에 퍼져 있던 신선사상에 바탕을 둔 백제적 부장의례 습속이 이어진 것이었다. 또 木棺과 木板 사용의 유무, 피장자의 두향, 남․여의 매장위치, 단장․2인병열장․3인 이상 다장 등의 매장방식, 매장의 선후관계 등을 백제 재지 묘제와 북부구주 횡혈묘의 그것과 대비해 본 결과, 백제와 구주지역의 공통적인 요소, 백제적 요소, 구주지역 요소 등 혼재된 양상으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 횡혈묘 조묘집단이 백제 사회에 상당 부분 동화되어 있었음을 보여주는 것으로 이해된다. 한편 횡혈묘 출토 철제농공구의 기종과 파쇄부장습속, 방추차와 심발형토기․호류의 조합관계는 신봉동고분군을 중심으로 한 청주지역과 용원리고분군을 중심으로 한 천안지역과 밀접한 관련을 보이고 있었다. 특히 5세기 중엽 이후의 왜계 무기류들이 많이 확인되고 있는 청주지역과 밀접하게 관련되었다. 이러한 여러 가지 현상들은 5세기 중후엽에 청주지역에 들어와 先住하던 왜계집단들이 한성함락 및 웅진천도와 함께 공주 주변으로 이주하여 정착한 바탕 위에 북부구주로부터 신래의 횡혈묘 사용집단이 들어와 합세한 결과로 이해되었다. 청주지역에 먼저 들어와 정착한 왜계집단은 雄略 5년(461)에 파견된 軍士集團과, 공주지역의 新來 왜계집단은 雄略 23년(479)에 파견된 군사집단과의 관련성이 상정되었다. 왜계집단의 청주지역 정착은 백제의 지방 군사거점으로 중요시되었던 청주지역에 대한 군사적 기반을 강화하기 위한 백제의 정책에 의한 것이었으며, 웅진천도 직후 청주지역에 先住하던 왜계집단의 공주지역 이주와 新來 군사집단의 공주지역 정착은 한성 함락과 웅진 천도 직후의 국가적 위기 타개와 불안정한 왕권을 수호하고 강화하기 위한 백제의 정책적 의도가 작용한 것이었다. 한편 횡혈묘의 무기 부재 현상은 동시기 백제 재지 묘제와 같은 현상으로, 당시 백제가 처한 역사적 정황으로 보아 무기․마구의 부장이 강하게 통제되고, 실용으로 전환되었음을 보여주는 것이었다.

영어초록

Hwenghyulmyo tombs, which are found throughout Gong-ju and Bu-yeo area, are considered historically important since they show the relationship between Baek-jae and Japan in the ancient. Forms and styles of Hwenghyulmyo tombs in Gong-ju and Bu-yeo area reflect the fact that Baek-jae imported earlier forms of Hwenghyulmyo tombs of Kitakyushu Region in Japan. A variety of Iron-made instruments used for agriculture and architecture, characteristics in the folkways of burials, thread reels, and features of potteries all show the cultural character of Baek-jae in Han-sung period. Culture of crushing while burying articles and its cultural background had also been kept since Han-sung period. Especially, Iron-made instruments and , thread reels are considered as symbols of male and female, reflecting Taoism within Baek-jae society. Taoism in Baek-jae was acquired and maintained through international relationship with Chinese Seo-jin. Moreover, the burial methods found in Hwenghyulmyo tombs excavation indicate not only the form of Kitakyushu Region but also that of Baek-jae which is creative. This shows the fact that the Japanese peoples of architects who established Hwenghyulmyo tombs are assimilated within Baek-jae society at the time. On the other hand, features of, Iron- maded instruments and crushing customs found in Hwenghyulmyo tombs are closely related to Cheong-ju area where relics of Japanese form after mid 5th century are specially excavated. When Japanese who had been living in Cheong-ju area moved and settled down in Gong-ju because of the movement of Baekjae's capital to Woong-jin(Gong-ju), different Hwenghyulmyo tombs culture from Kitakyushu was also imported and intermingled with pre-existing ones. It can be said that Japanese people who were living in Cheong-ju province is related to military force sent from Japan in 461(5th year of the king Woong-ryak). Moreover, Japanese warriors force who newly came to Gong-ju are related to warrior force in 479(23rd year of king Woong-ryak). Japanese warriors force was deployed in Cheong-ju area because they wanted to enforce the military value that Cheong-ju had at the time. Japanese warriors force which had existed in Cheong-ju area and the force that newly came from Japan were both deployed in Gong-ju to deal with national crisis and to reinforce regal power after the movement of the capital to Woong-jin(Gong-ju). Meanwhile, no weapon is excavated from Hwenghyulmyo tombs, and such phenomena are also found in contemporary Baek-jae styles of tombs and Kitakyushu styles of Hwenghyulmyo tombs. This indicates that the burial of weapons was strictly controlled while national facet changed into wartime.
