중국 고대 묘장(墓葬) 설계의 특성 연구 - 생사관을 중심으로 - (The Study on The Characteristics of Tomb Design In Ancient China - Focusing on The View Towards Life and Death -)

초록

본연구는 묘장(墓葬)이 처음으로 등장한 신석기 시대 초기(현재로부터 12000〜8000년 전)에서 시작되었다. 예로부터 중국은 묘장의 설계를 특히 중시해 왔고그 내용이 다양했으며 등장한 후부터 형태적으로 끊임없이 변화해왔다. 특히 해당 시대 사람들의 생사관과- 40 - 묘장의 구성 형태 및 내용물 간의 연관성에 주목하여먼저 그 관계를 정리했고 이를 바탕으로 구체적인 사례 분석을 진행했다. 본연구의 목적은 중국 묘장 설계의 특징을 탐구하여 중국 무덤 설계 이론연구를 토대를 마련하는 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 1) 묘장 형태와생사관의 관계 2) 묘장의 형태적 특징 3) 영향 요인이라는 세 가지 측면으로 나누어 연구를 시도하였다. 연구 결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생사관과 묘장의 형태 발전 간의 관계를 비교하여 생사관이 묘장의형태 발전에 영향을 미쳤다는 전제에 대한 근거를 도출했다. 둘째, 묘장 구성 요소를 기호화 분석하여 묘장설계에서 묘주의 특징과 의례적 특징을 확인했다. 묘장 설계에는 현실세계를 모방한 형태와 이와 구분되는형태가 공존하며 산 자는 특정한 의례적 방식을 통해서 죽은 자와 소통한다. 셋째, 다양한 시기의 묘장 사례를 분석하여 묘장의 의례적 특징은 종교적 요인과철학적 요인, 묘주의 특징은 정치적 요인과 사회적 요인의 영향을 받은 것을 발견했다. 이를 통해서 묘장설계가 영혼 세계와 현실 세계 간의 연결과 차이를 강조한다는 사실을 확인했다. 본 논문은 묘장이 거듭해서 강조하는 설계적 특성을 기반으로 중국 묘장 설계가 추구하는 목적이 죽은 자에 대한 산 자의 감정 표현이라는 결론에 도달했다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 죽은 자를 기리는 산 자의 감정이라는 관점에서 현시대 묘장 설계를 바라보고 이에 새로운 연구방향과 발전방향을 제시하는 것을 기대한다.

영어초록

This study begins with the emergence of tombs in the early Neolithic Age (12000~8000 years ago).
Since ancient times, China has attached great importance to the design of tombs, which is rich in contents. Thus, its shape has been evolving. The characteristic of Chinese tomb reflects that people's view towards life and death is related with the content and form of tombs to some extent. This paper sorts out the relationship in the development, and finds out the design features from the shape of tombs. Then specific case analysis is carried out to explore the characteristics of Chinese tomb design, so as to build the theoretical basis of Chinese tomb design. This paper takes the origin stage with obvious characteristics of tomb changes as the research object. Based on previous research results, it is found that the characteristics of tombs are reflected in space, utensils and decoration.
Therefore, this paper has carried out two stages of exploration. On the one hand, through the study on the relationship between the attitude towards life and death and the material form of tombs, the morphological characteristics of tombs are analyzed, and the significance of tomb design is clarified. On the other hand, through the analysis of three different periods of burial cases, the significance is explored, the influencing factors are obtained, and the references for the design of tombs are found.
After conducting certain researches, the following points have been found. To begin with, this paper finds the relevant basis for the premise that "the attitude towards life and death has an impact on the development of burial form" by comparing their relationship. The design object of the tomb includes the dead and the living. Besides, after the symbolic analysis of the tomb elements, it’s found that the tomb design has the characteristics of the tomb owner and the ritual features, which has similarities and distinguishes with the real world. The former is to build a colorful post-death residence for the tomb owner, and its connotation is the expression of "shape and soul". The ritual feature is to express an unreal after-world, mainly reflecting the understanding of the "unknown" world and the respect for the souls of ancestors. Its connotation is to reflect the existence of "soul". Moreover, the living people communicate with the dead through certain rituals. Finally, through the analysis of burial cases in different periods, it is found that the ritual characteristics are affected by religious factors and ideology, while the characteristics of the tomb owner are affected by political factors and social customs. It is thus deduced that the design of tombs emphasizes the connection and difference between the soul world and the real world, and it is concluded that the essence of Chinese tomb design is people's expression of emotion according to the feelings brought by the characteristics of tomb design. This study aims to provide new ideas and directions for the study of modern tomb design from the emotional perspective of the living worshiping the dead.
