조선후기 안동 태사묘太師廟의 운영 양상과 그 역할 (The Operating Pattern and Its Role of the TaesaMyo(太師廟) in Andong in the Late Joseon Dynasty)

초록

안동 태사묘는 고려 건국에 공을 세운 안동권씨, 안동김씨, 안동장씨의 시조를 모시는 사당으로, 천 년 이상의 역사를 갖는 안동의 상징적인 공간 가운데 하나이다. 이글은 묘임안廟任案전답안田畓案원생안院生案묘직안廟直案첨배록瞻拜錄 및 각종 일기류 등을 활용하여 조선후기 태사묘의 운영 양상과 그 역할을 살펴본 것이다.
조선후기 태사묘는 안동권씨 중심으로 운영되었으며, 태사묘 건물의 중수도 안동권씨가 앞장섰다. 오랜 갈등 끝에 19세기 중후반부터 태사묘의 묘임에는 삼공신의 후예가 참여했으며, 20세기 초반 태사묘 건물의 중건에도 세 성씨가 공동으로 자금을 마련하였다. 안동권씨 중심의 태사묘 운영 방식이 19세기 중후반부터 세 성씨의 공동 운영 방식으로 바뀌었음을 확인하였다.
태사묘 운영을 위한 재원財源은 15~16세기 지방관이 지원해준 곡식 토지 노비가 바탕이 되었다. 17~20세기 초반 태사묘의 전답 규모는 2~5결이다. 이 밖에 태사묘의 운영 자금에는 후손들의 부조, 식리활동, 원생과 묘직의 신역 신공 등도 포함되었다.
태사묘의 가장 중요한 기능은 삼공신에 대한 제향으로, 1년에 5번 제향 하던 것을 17세기 전후 춘추 향사로 바꾸었다. 성리학적 예제가 사회 전반으로 확대되는 것과 맥락을 같이 한 것이다. 태사묘에는 평소 삼공신의 후예 및 경상도 지방관의 방문이 잦았다. 태사묘는 지역 사족들의 회합 장소로도 이용되었으며, 향촌활동에 필요한 자금을 제공하기도 하였다. 조선후기 태사묘의 운영은 안동권씨 혹은 삼공신의 후예들이 주도했지만, 태사묘는 지역 사족들의 향촌활동 조직의 기능도 하였다.

영어초록

Taesamyo (太師廟) Shrine in Andong is the shrine which keeps tablets of the progenitors of Andong Gwon Clan, Andong Kim Clan, and Andong Jang Clan who made a contribution to founding the Gorye Dynasty. It is one of the symbolic spaces of Andong which has a 1,000-year history. This writing studied the aspects of operating Taesamyo Shrine in the late Joseon Dynasty and the role by utilizing and Myoiman (廟任案), Jeondapan (田畓案), Wonsaengan (院生案), Myojikan (廟直案), Cheombaerok (瞻拜錄), and all kinds of diaries.
Taesamyo Shrine was usually operated by Andong Gwon Clan in the late Joseon Dynasty and it also took the initiative in repairing the building. Descendents of the three contributors participated in Myoim of Taesamyo Shrine in the mid and late nineteenth century and the people of the three family names jointly raised funds to reconstruct the building. It has found that the aspects of the Andong Gwon Clan-centered operation of Taesamyo Shrine was changed to the system that the people of the three family names jointly operated it.
Crops, land, and slaves supported by the provincial government office served as the foundation of finances for operating Taesamyo Shrine in the 15th and 16th centuries. The size of fields and paddies of Taesamyo Shrine was 2 to 5 gyeol. Besides, the descendants’ aid, activities to accumulate wealth and make profits, physical labor and tributes of students and grave keepers are included in the operating funds of Taesamyo Shrine.
The most important function of Taesamyo Shrine is sacrificial rite for the three contributors. 5 sacrificial rites per year was changed to spring and fall ceremonial rites before and after the seventeenth century. It was in line with ancestral rites of Neo-Confucianism which spread around much of the society. The descendents of the three contributors and local governors in Gyeongsang-do usually and frequently visited Taesamyo Shrine. Taesamyo Shrine was also used as meeting places for local distinguished families. And local distinguished families in Andong prepared funds for spears by borrowing 20 bags of rice from the genealogy place of Taesamyo Shrine when the Musin Revolt took place in 1728. Andong Gwon Clan or the descendents of the three contributors took the lead in operating Taesamyo Shrine in the late Joseon Dynasty but this place was also the open space which was used for the country activities of the local distinguished families.
