베트남 플라워-흐몽(Flower-Hmong) 복식에 나타난 미적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Aesthetic Characteristics in Vietnam Flower-Hmong Costume)

초록

Race of Hmong among the minorities accounts for one percent in Vietnam population. Like others, they have original clothing culture unique to them. Hmong breaks down again into several sub-races and Flower-Hmong is one of them.
Hmong's costume is characterized as almost same in structure as a whole. In detail, however, it expresses differently by the color, ornament, and other add-ons. Flower-Hmong among the sub-Hmong races has and develops splendid and various ornamental accessories and colors in expression different from other sub-races. Flower-Hmong's unique characteristics different from those of others lead to necessity of study about this race. Therefore, this study intends to provide basic material of Asian minor race's clothing, succeed to modern style from tradition, and develop further by examining the Flower-Hmong's costume.
This work examines the types of distinct Flower-Hmong's costume among the Hmongs of Vietnam and analyzes the aesthetic characteristics. Study object is confined to the clothing that Flower-Hmong wears presently. Examination materials are D/B and browsing results from inside and outside the country, and published books including thesis and monograph. In study method, types and aesthetic characteristics are analyzed through their presented cases.
Study outcome shows headdress type by turban and scarf shape, coat type similar to that of China's Miao race(苗族), and apron type on the wide pleated lap skirt with gaiters around legs. Aesthetic characteristics found in Flower-Hmong's costume indicate traditionality based on traditional heredity, ornamentality based on craftsmanship, and convergency based on variation of design.
Results from study could help to establish and provide theories in understanding the Asian minor race's costume. Additionally, variety and originality of its clothing culture could be confirmed and provide the access to information enabling to expand the interpretation scope about costume culture.
