<옥루몽>을 통해 본 한국 전통 대화의 원리 및 교육적 함의 (Korean Traditional Principles of Conversation and Educational Implication through Ok-Ru-Mong)

초록

본 연구에서는 고전소설 <옥루몽>에 나타난 다양한 대화에서 강조되는 한국 전통 대화의 원리를 밝히고 이러한 원리가 갖는 교육적 함의에 대해서 분석하였다.
2장은 한국 전통 대화의 원리를 추론하기 위한 예비적 단계로서, 소설의 대화를 ‘대화상황(공적/사적)’과 ‘대화의도(드러냄/감춤)’라는 두 가지 기준에 따라 4가지 상황으로 유형화하였다.
3장에서는 2장에서 유형화한 대화상황에서 성공적인 소통을 가능하게 하는 한국 전통 대화의 원리를 추론해 보았다. 그리고 이를 각각 언행일치의 중요성, 숨김과 드러냄의 중요성, 관계 인식의 중요성, 정서 교감의 중요성이라고 명명하였다.
첫 번째 대화상황에서는 공적인 삶의 일관성이 실천적으로 검증되어야 한다는 대화의 원리가 작동하고 있었다. 두 번째 대화상황에서는 화자와 청자 모두에게 의도의 숨김과 드러냄 사이를 조율할 줄 아는 능력이 요구되었다. 세 번째 대화상황에서는 화자와 청자가 서로 소통의 주체로 만나 상대를 인정하는 관계 인식의 중요성이 강조되었다. 네 번째 상황에서는 대화 이면의 말과 말, 사람과 사람 사이에 흐르는 ‘정(情)’의 독법 역시 중요함을 전제로 하고 있었다.
<옥루몽>에서 중요하다고 전제되어 있는 대화의 원리는 어떻게 말해야 하는지 기술적이고, 전략적인 방법을 가르쳐주지 않는다. 대신 한국의 전통 화법문화에서 대화의 의미와 소통에 임하는 자세에 대해 근본적으로 고민하게 한다는 점에서 교육적 함의를 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This study aims to clarify the korean traditional principles of conversation which were emphasized in classic novel Ok-Ru-Mong's various conversation and to analyse the educational implication of korean traditional principles of conversation which were inferred through classic novel Ok-Ru-Mong.
To infer the korean traditional principles of conversation, in chapter 2, it categorizes 4 types according to the 2 criteria which are consist of 'conversation situation(public/private)' and 'purpose of conversation(revealing/hiding)'.
In chapter 3, the korean traditional principles of conversation which enable people to communicate successfully were inferred through conversation-situation categorized in chapter 2. And the korean traditional principles of conversation were said each the importance of consistency of speech and action, the importance of revealing and hiding, the importance of relationship recognition, the importance of emotional consensus.
In the first conversation-situation, the principle of conversation such as a consistency of public life must be proved practically was operated. In the second conversation-situation, the skills were required to coordinate revealing and hiding of intention to both speaker and listener. In the third conversation-situation, the importance of relationship recognition that speaker and listener met as subject of communication and recognized opponent was emphasized. In the forth conversation-situation, the importance of not only reading conversation ex facie, but also reading of 'heart(Jeong)' flew in words to words, people to people was premised.
The principles of conversation premised importantly on Ok-Ru-Mong didn't teach the technical and tactical way to communicate with people. Instead the principles of conversation threw the questions what is conversation and what is the ultimate purpose of conversation. And we could find the educational implication that makes us to consider the communication position fundamentally.
