체화된 자아(인격)로서 몸과 영적 삶의 상호성 (Reciprocity of The Body as an Embodied Self and Spiritual Life)

초록

인간은 하나님의 신비에 의해 몸과 마음과 영의 상호 작용을 통해 형성되어 가는 존재로 지음을 받았다. 인간의 몸과 마음과 영의 차원은 서로 분리될 수 있는 부분(part)과 실체가 아니라 삶의 양상(aspect)과 인격을 의미한다. 따라서 인간의 이러한 차원들의 온전한 상호성에 대한 이해는 중요하다. 본고는 체화된 자아(embodied self)로서 몸과 영적 삶의 상호성(reciprocity)을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 그리스도인들이 영만을 이상화하고 몸의 인격은 이차적인 것으로 여기는 경향이 있기 때문이다. 분명한 것은 온전한 영적 삶은 체화된 몸의 성숙한 육체성 또는 물질성(materiality)과 상호 작용 없이 형성할 수 없다. 따라서 체화된 자아 또는 인격으로서 몸과 영적 삶의 온전한 상호성의 구조와 특성에 대한 이해는 중요하다. 본고는 체화된 자아로서 몸과 영적 삶의 상호성을 밝히기 위해 먼저 탈체화된 영적 삶의 배경과 모습을 밝힌다. 즉, 탈체화된 영적 삶은 영혼과 몸의 이원론, 고대의 열악한 환경 속에서 몸의 경험, 물질성과 물질주의의 혼동, 신약 성경의 사르크(sarx)에 대한 왜곡된 이해 등으로부터 형성되었다. 하지만 육과 육신으로 번역된 사르크는 육체나 몸을 지시하지 않고, 아담으로부터 내려오는 죄 본성, 유해 한 옛 습관, 파괴적인 대인관계, 세상에 대응하고 반응하는 불건전한 방식 등을 지시한다. 탈체화된 영적 삶은 인간의 몸과 영의 가치 등급화와 왜곡된 영적 실천과 문화도 형성했다는 것을 밝힌다. 특히 기독교 역사에서 탈체화된 영적 실천은 왜곡된 성문화를 형성했다. 체화된 영적 삶은 몸과 마음과 영의 온전한 상호성 안에서 형성된다는 것을 강조한다. 온전한 상호성은 실재의 상호 연관성과 실재의 상호 주체성을 모두 포함한다는 것을 논한다. 실재의 상호 연관성은 모든 차원이 서로 분리될 수 없다는 인식이며, 실재의 상호 주체성은 각 차원은 주체로서 가치를 지닌다는 인식이다. 실재의 상호 연관성은 차원의 본질에 대한 인식의 문제이고, 실재의 상호 주체성은 모든 차원의 가치에 대한 개성을 인정한다는 인식이다. 이러한 논의를 통해 체화된 몸이 수반된 영적 실천으로 몸과 마음과 영이 함께하는 걷기 기도, 이웃 사랑을 위한 몸의 참여가 수반된 부분 금식 기도, 그림 그리기 기도 등을 제시한다. 그리스도인 공동체는 영적 삶이 몸의 성숙한 물질성과 상호 작용하도록 하는 영적 문화를 형성할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

Human beings were created as beings formed through the interaction of body, mind, and spirit by the mystery of God. The dimensions of human body, mind, and spirit are not separate parts and entities, but aspects and personality of life. Therefore, it is important to understand the full interrelationship of these dimensions of human beings.
The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the reciprocity between the body and spiritual life as an embodied self. This is because Christians tend to idealize only the spirit and regard the physical personality as secondary. What is clear is that a complete spiritual life cannot be formed without interaction with the mature physicality or materiality of the embodied body. Therefore, it is important to understand the structure and nature of the complete reciprocity of body and spiritual life as an embodied self or personality.
In order to reveal the reciprocity of the body and spiritual life as an embodied self, this paper first reveals the background and appearance of a disembodied spiritual life. That is, the disembodied spiritual life was formed from the dualism of soul and body, the experience of the body in the harsh environments of ancient times, the confusion of materiality and materialism, and the distorted understanding of sarx in the New Testament. However, sarx does not refer to the flesh or body, but to the sinful nature inherited from Adam, harmful old habits, destructive interpersonal relationships, and unhealthy ways of responding and reacting to the world. It is revealed that disembodied spiritual life has also formed a grading of the value of the human body and spirit and distorted spiritual practices and culture. Especially in Christian history, disembodied spiritual practices have created a distorted sexual culture.
It emphasizes that embodied spiritual life is formed within the complete interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. We argue that full reciprocity includes both the interconnectedness of reality and the intersubjectivity of reality. The interconnectedness of reality is the recognition that all dimensions cannot be separated from each other, and the intersubjectivity of reality is the recognition that each dimension has value as a subject. The interconnectedness of reality is a matter of recognizing the nature of its dimensions, and the intersubjectivity of reality is a recognition of the individuality of the values of all its dimensions. Through this discussion, spiritual practices involving the embodied body are presented, such as walking prayer involving body, mind, and spirit, partial fasting prayer involving body participation for love of neighbors, and drawing prayer. The Christian community needs to form a spiritual culture that allows spiritual life to interact with the mature materiality of the body.
