초록

본 연구는 게임 캐릭터의 외형 디자인이 사용자의 심미와 문화 수요를 어떻게 반영하는지 깊이 탐구하고, 이를 통해 빠르게 발전하는 모바일 게임 분야에서 캐릭터 디자인을 더욱 매력적으로 만들어 우수한 시장 경쟁력을 갖추게 만들기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 일본 민간 문학에서 널리 알려진 여우(Kitsune) 이미지를 출발점으로 하여 문화 기호와 디자인 영감의 원천으로 삼으며, 오타쿠(Otaku) 스타일의 캐릭터 외형 디자인이 지닌 독특한 심미 특징과 결합하여 모바일 게임에서 깊은 문화 의미와 함께 사용자의 선호에 적합한 캐릭터 이미지 구축을 고찰하였다.
일본 민간 문학에서 여우 이미지는 신비, 지혜, 교활함의 화신으로 등장할 뿐만 아니라 예측할 수 없는 변화, 기민함과 우아함 등의 특징과 밀접하게 연관되어 다양한 문화 의미를 파생시켰다. 오타쿠 스타일은 선명한 이차원 시각 특징과 모에(Moe) 표현 그리고 캐릭터의 개성을 강조하는 창작 방식으로 여우 이미지의 잠재력을 충분히 발굴할 수 있어 캐릭터 디자인에 더욱 섬세하고 다원적인 시각 표현을 가능하게 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 여우 이미지와 오타쿠 스타일의 결합을 통해 모바일 게임 분야의 캐릭터 외형 디자인을 위한 새로운 구상을 제공하고자 하였다.
더욱 과학적이고 체계적인 캐릭터 디자인 분석과 최적화를 위해 본 연구는 계층화분석법(AHP)을 사용하여 모바일 게임 요소 중에서 캐릭터 외형 디자인의 중요도를 고찰하였다. 모바일 게임은 상대적으로 작은 스크린 사이즈와 파편화된 사용 시간이나 장소로 인해 심플한 캐릭터 디자인에 대한 사용자의 욕구가 두드러지게 나타났다. 또한 모바일 게임 게이머는 캐릭터의 핵심 시각 특징에 큰 관심을 보이고, 이러한 특징은 주로 신체 부분과 얼굴 특징에 집중된 것으로 나타났다. 이 특징은 짧은 시간에 사용자의 눈길을 사로잡고 시각적 기억을 강화할 수 있으며, 비록 여우 특징을 지닌 머리 스타일과 복장도 캐릭터의 전체 이미지에서 중요한 지위를 차지하고 있으나 모바일 게임에서 신체와 얼굴 요소의 시각 식별도에 미치지 못하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 모바일 게임의 캐릭터 외형 디자인 효과와 사용자의 만족도 제고를 위한 최적화 전략을 제시했으며, 이를 통해 사용자의 욕구를 정확히 충족시키고 미래 게임 캐릭터 디자인에서 더욱 뛰어난 문화 매력과 시장 가치를 구현하고자 하였다.

영어초록

This research aims to delve into how to more profoundly reflect users’ aesthetic and cultural demands through the appearance design of game characters, especially in the rapidly developing field of mobile-terminal games, rendering character design more attractive and competitive in the market. Taking the well-known “fox” image in Japanese folklore as a starting point, this research regards it as a cultural symbol and a source of design inspiration. By combining it with the unique aesthetic characteristics of the appearance design of Otakustyle characters, the research explores how to create character images in mobile games that are both culturally profound and in line with users’ preferences.
The “fox” image in Japanese folklore has multiple cultural connotations. It is regarded as the incarnation of mystery, wisdom, and cunning, and is also closely related to traits such as unpredictability, agility, and elegance. The Otaku style, with its distinct ACGN visual features, moe (cute) expressions, and a creative approach that emphasizes the individuality of characters, can further tap the potential of the “fox” image, presenting a more delicate and multi-dimensional visual expression in game character design. Combining these two aspects, this research aims to provide a new perspective on the appearance design of characters in the mobile game field.
To analyze and optimize character design more scientifically,this research uses the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to analyze the importance of the appearance design elements of characters in mobile games. In the mobile game field, due to the small screen size and fragmented usage scenarios, users have a particularly strong demand for the simplicity of character design. Therefore, mobile-terminal players are more inclined to pay attention to the core visual features of characters, which are mainly reflected in the body parts and facial features with fox-like characteristics. These features can capture users’ attention and strengthen visual memory in a short time. In addition, although hairstyles and costumes play an important role in the overall character image, their visual recognition in mobile-terminal games is slightly less significant compared to body and facial elements. Based on the above research results, this research proposes optimization strategies to improve the effect of character appearance design in mobile games and user satisfaction. It is hoped that through the design strategy improvement plan proposed in this research, the “fox” image can more accurately meet the needs of users in mobile games, and promote the development of future game character design in a direction that is more culturally attractive and market-valuable.
