‘판소리학’ 정립을 위한 몇 가지 기본 용어고찰 -유사용어의 비교연구를 중심으로- (Study on a few basic terms for building a ‘Pansori-science’)

초록

판소리가 근대학문으로 연구된 지도 반세기가 넘었다. 그 동안의 판소리 연구는 문학 중심의 연구가 주류를 이루었다. 세부분야를 살펴보면 기원연구 · 양식연구 · 계보연구 · 사설연구 · 작품연구 · 문헌연구 · 명창연구 · 미학연구 · 장단연구 · 선율연구 · 연구사연구 · 생애사연구 · 음반연구 등 다양한 방면에 깊이 있게 다루어졌다. 그러나 용어연구 · 발성법연구 · 성음연구 · 득음연구 · 작창연구 · 너름새연구 · 공연연구 등 실제 판소리와 관련한 연구는 부족하였다. 따라서 앞으로의 판소리연구는 미흡한 분야의 연구를 활성화하여 ‘판소리학’을 정립해 나가야 하겠다.
모든 학문연구의 기초는 해당분야의 용어들의 개념을 정리하는 일에서 시작된다. 판소리용어는 대략 200여종 이상이며 용어분류의 방법도 다양하다. 따라서 ‘판소리학’을 정립하기 위해서는 먼저 판소리연구에 사용되는 다양한 용어들의 개념정리와 체계적인 분류가 이루어져야 한다.
본고는 판소리 용어 중 유사한 몇 가지 기본 용어들을 살펴본 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, ‘바탕’ 용어는 판소리 텍스트의 하나나 공연작품의 전체를 의미한다. ‘마당’ 용어는 ‘바탕’ 용어의 하위개념으로 판소리 텍스트 전체 중에서 시간과 장소를 같이 하는 큰 단락이나 장소를 의미한다.
둘째, ‘머리’ 용어는 접미사로 덩어리를 이루는 수량이나 그것을 한 단위로 하는 말로 일정한 틀을 갖고 있다. 그리고 한 장단 안에 ‘합’과 ‘각(맺음)’ 그리고 ‘풂’의 과정을 가지고 있다. 또한 ‘내드름’ 의미가 있어 한 대목에서 곡의 선율진행 형태를 제시한다.
셋째, ‘도섭’ 용어는 장단에 맞추어 소리를 하다가 장단에 구애됨이 없이 원박과 장단 틀을 모두 벗어나 자유리듬으로 선율진행을 하거나 목재치 기교를 부리는 것을 말한다. ‘창조’ 용어는 장단 없이 소리 반, 말 반 형태의 아니리를 의미한다.
넷째, ‘발림’ 용어는 ‘너름새’ 용어의 하위개념으로 소리를 하면서 근경을 그리거나 또는 창의 이면을 표현하기 위한 몸동작을 의미한다. ‘너름새’ 용어는 넓은 의미의 신체 동작상의 표현능력과 무대 위에서 판을 이끌어가는 연기력이나 능력을 의미한다.
다섯째, ‘진양조’ 용어의 ‘조’는 ‘악상기호’의 조(調)가 아니라 ‘짝을 이룬다’는 의미의 조(組)이며, 3분박 6박자 구조이다. ‘세마치’ 용어는 2분박 6박자의 구조이며, 진양조의 박자 · 속도 · 강약 · 용도 등이 바뀌어 새로운 장단으로 인식함으로써 등장하였다. ‘진양조’ 용어가 장중한 감정이나 비극적 표현에 효과적이고, ‘세마치’ 용어는 박력 있고 경쾌한 느낌을 갖는 소리대목에 효과적이다. 앞으로 좀 더 학술적 연구가 필요하다.
여섯째, ‘덜렁제’ 용어는 권삼득이 개발한 더늠으로 극적 상황은 등장인물이 덜렁대거나 호기 있게 나오는 대목에 활용되며, ‘굿거리식 중중머리’ 장단을 활용한다. ‘호걸제’ 용어는 송수철의 더늠으로 극적상황은 등장인물이 도량이 넓고 기개 있어 위엄 있는 성음(聲音)을 구사하는 대목에 활용되며, 진양조장단을 활용한다.

영어초록

Half a century have passed since studying Pansori as a modern science. Pansori study has become the main current of study as a literature-centered one during that time. That has managed deeply as various directions in detail terms such as origin study, form study, genealogy study, speech study, work study, document study, aesthetics study, rhythm study, melody study, research-history study, singer-career study, disc study, etc. But such study related with actual studies as term study, vocal study, sound-gain study, song-making study, Neoreumsae study, performance study, ect, was insufficient. Therefore, Pansori study in future will have to built ‘Pansori science’ due to studying livelily on poor parts.
Basic study on all the sciences starts from arranging the notion of terms about appropriate parts. First of all, we must build the notion of various terms used for Pansori study to build ‘Pansori science’. The number of Pansori terms is over about 200 kinds and the method of term-grouping is various. But the notion arrangement and systematic grouping of Pansori terms are not done well. Accordingly, the term study in future will have to study on the basis of objective source and reasonable logic through the investigation on various documents, academic theory, and wide witnesses of singers.
This study gained the results as the following owing to searching over a few basic terms alike of Pansori terms.
First, ‘round’ term means from start to finale in a text of Pansori. ‘Ground’ term means the big paragraph or place to have same time and place in a text of whole Pansori as a sub-term of ‘round’ term.
Second, ‘head’ term has the dimensions of quality to make a lump of suffixes or the frame to call it a unit. And, it has the course of ‘unity’, angle(finale), and untie in a rhythm. Futhermore, it presents the form of melody progression for the song in a passage due to meaning ‘Naedeureum’.
Third, ‘Doseup’ term speaks what do the melody progression with free rhythm as getting out of all the frames of the timing and rhythm without regard to the rhythm on the way of meeting the sound to rhythm or do the neck-wit with elaborate skill. ‘Creation’ term means Aniri with sound in half and speech in half without the rhythm.
Fourth, ‘Balim’ term means the dance motions such as light gesture, arm gesture, etc. to indicate with singing and the body motion for expressing well the back of song contents. ‘Neoreumsae’ term means the expression ability of body motions in a broad sense and the handicraft and performance ability to lead the Pan(ground) on the stage.
Fifth, party of ‘Jinyangjo’ term doesn't mean the tune of ‘music code' but do ‘duet’ and is the frame of triple 6 times. ‘Semachi’ term is another name of frequent Jinyangjo and the frame of double 6 times.
Sixth, ‘Deolyeongje’ term is used for the stage to behave lightly or bravely resulting from dramatic situations of the character as ‘Deoneum’ developed by Kwon Sam-deuk and the rhythm makes use of ‘Jungjungmeori of Gukgeori form’. ‘Hogeolje’ term is used for the stage to sing a vocal sound with dignity of the singers with wide generosity and courage resulting from dramatic situations as a Deoneum by Song Su-cheol and the rhythm makes use of ‘Jinyangjo’.
