초록

본고는 1819년 효명세자(孝明世子)의 가례(嘉禮)와 관련된 기록물의 성격을 알아보고, 『왕세자가례등록(王世子嘉禮謄錄)』, 『가례도감의궤(嘉禮都監儀軌)』 등의 관찬 기록물에 수록된 가례 관련 정보를 토대로 사찬 자료 <방경무도사(邦慶舞蹈辭)>, <긔묘년 됴대비 입궐일긔(己卯年趙大妃入闕日記)>의 내용을 비교 검토하여 하나의 공통된 사건이 각각의 기록물에서 어떻게 발화되고 있는지 작품의 전개 과정과 표현 방식을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 왕세자의 혼례를 두고 사회적·정치적 입장이 다른 개별 작자의 시선은 동일하지 않기 때문이다.
<방경무도사>는 효명세자의 가례에 참례한 이휘령이 지은 일종의 경축가사이다. 작품의 중심인물은 가례를 치르는 왕세자와 가례의 주최자 국왕이다. 화자는 직접 참여하여 관찰이 가능했던 납채례, 초계례, 친영과 백관들의 진하(陳賀) 과정을 중점적으로 나타낸다. 의례가 이루어지는 시간보다는 주로 공간의 이동을 따라가며 가례의 광경이나 참여하는 인물, 행렬의 이동에 대한 생동감 넘치는 묘사가 두드러진다.
<긔묘년 됴대비 입궐일긔>는 효명세자와 가례를 올린 세자빈 풍양 조씨의 모친 은진 송씨가 저술을 주도한 것으로 짐작되는 궁중일기이다. 3차례의 간택을 치르는 일부터 간택 후의 별궁 생활, 책빈, 초계례, 친영례, 조현례의 과정을 기록하였다. <방경무도사>가 가례의 절차를 공간 이동 중심으로 전개하고 있는 반면에, <긔묘년 됴대비 입궐일긔>는 주인공 세자빈이 직접 참여하는 간택, 습의, 책봉, 친영 등의 과정을 시간의 경과를 나타내는 단어를 활용하여 순차적으로 전개된다. 종결형 어미 ‘-더라’를 활용하여 경험했던 시점 보다 오랜 시간이 흐른 뒤에 과거를 회상하며 기록하는 형태를 보여주며, 작품 속 ‘대화’를 통해 부친 조만영과 모친 은진 송씨의 내면 심리를 강력히 부각시킨다. 세자빈 조씨의 체험에 대한 관찰과 세자빈 조씨 부모의 행동 및 내면 심리를 이원화하고 있다.

영어초록

This paper examines the private records regarding the royal marriage ceremony of Crown Prince Hyo-Myeong from comprehensive and diverse perspectives, comparing to the official records. So far, we have examined the material characteristics of the records related to Crown Prince Hyo-Myeong's wedding ceremony in 1819, and in particular, official records such as 『Crown Prince Garyedeungrok』 and 『Garyedogam Uigwe』 provided much information. On the basis of this, we compared and reviewed the contents of <Banggyeongmudosa> and <Gimyonyeon Queen Dowager Cho’s Diary of the Royal Court Entry> which are both privately compiled records, and found out how one event was described differently in each record. We compared and analyzed the story development process and expression method of the two records, <Gimyonyeon Queen Dowager Cho’s Diary of the Royal Court Entry>, a diary material, and <Banggyeongmudosa>, a blessing lyrics. Through this, we could not only confirm the differences in the two description methods, but also discover the hidden side of the royal marriage ceremony that could not be found in official records.
First, <Banggyeongmudosa> is a kind of celebratory lyrics composed by Hei-Nyeong Lee as he attended the wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Hyo-Myeong. The central figures of the work are the crown prince who is the subject of the wedding ceremony and the king hosting it. The narrator focuses on describing the process of Napchaerye, Chogyerye, Chinyoungrye, and the congratulations by all government officials. Rather than describing the chronological order of the wedding ceremony, he mainly followed the movement of ceremonial spaces vividly describing the scenes and processions. On the other hand, <Gimyonyeon Queen Dowager Cho’s Diary of the Royal Court Entry> appears to have been written in the family of Pungyang Jo which held the wedding ceremony with crown prince Hyo-Myeong, although the author is not clearly identified. It records the whole process of the crown princess getting through the Gantaek, which is the first rite of election, living in a separate palace called Byeolgung after the Gantaek, being installed as Crown Princess, attending Chogyerye, Chinyoungrye, and Johyeonrye. While <Banggyeongmudosa> develops the process of the wedding ceremony centering on spatial movement, <Gimyonyeon Queen Dowager Cho’s Diary of the Royal Court Entry> describes it sequentially using words that indicate the passage of time. In describing the process of Gantaek, Seup-ui, Chaekbong, and Chinyoungrye, the central figure is Queen Jo, the crown princess, and her attire and table setting are mainly described.
