초록

무대 중심의 개인이나 단체의 공연에 있어서, 공연제목은 일정한 틀과 의식의 규격
이 보여 진다. 그 이유는 단체별 특성을 넘어, 큰 틀에서 조망해 볼 때, 민족적, 문화
적 공통 특성이 의식세계에 투영되어 있기 때문이다. 본 연구의 필요성은 상시 공연되
어지고 있는 춤계의 공연현황에서 한국춤의 특정영역이 발산해 내는 공연명(공연명:
공연제목)에서 일정한 틀과 형식, 방식 등의 외형적 요건들을 총체적으로 규명하여 한
국춤을 전공하는 전공자들의 인식세계의 특성을 규명하고자 한다. 연구방법은 한국문
화예술위원회에서 매해 출간하는 문예연감 2000년∼2008년에 실린 무용편람에 제시
되어있는 한국춤(전통과 창작)의 공연제목과 내용을 기본 자료로 하여 연구의 목적에
적합한 요인별 규명을 이루었다. 그 결과 한국전통춤은 전통의 전승과 계승, 문화유
지, 창달의 의미가 존재하며, 표현의 영역이 자연주의 사상, 도가사상, 철학성의 내재
를 확연히 드러냈다. 본인을 일차적으로 드러내는 것보다, 자연의 이치와 순리로 자신
의 사상과 존재를 드러내고자 하는 은유적 표현법이 한국전통춤의 인식세계에 잠재되
어 있었다. 공연명의 짧은 구, 절 또는 복합명사의 표현법은 한국전통의 절제미를 보
여주는 것이었다. 이에 반해 창작춤은 옛스러움의 한정적 특징을 벗어나 일상적인 행
위와 생활적인 측면, 깊이 있는 자신의 사상적 측면의 자유로운 표출, 자신의 드러내
고자 하는 몸짓과 의도가 공연명부터 일차적으로 잘 표현되는 경향을 띄고 있었다.
한국창작춤의 공연명은 춤이 지향하고자 하는 방향성이 직접적으로 표출하는 방법
을 과감하게 사용하고 있었다. 그러기에 공연명은 일상적인 대화의 한구절이 되기도
하고, 생각의 단면을 서술하는 형식이 되기도 하고, 철학적으로 사물과 자연, 자연현
상의 의인화가 일어난다.
또한 ‘나’라는 존재를 표현함에 있어 공연명에 ‘○○○의 춤’으로 공연자의 존재적
측면을 강하게 부각시켰다. 공연자의 이름이 나타나는 경향은 춤을 단순한 ‘표현’의 매
체로 인식하던 시대를 지나 자신을 통한, 자신을 거쳐 ‘표현’하고자 하는 현대적 예술
의 발전상의 한 단면이 춤에서도 드러나는 경향이라고 보겠다. 표현의 상영자가 아닌 표현의 유일한 주체자가 되고자 하는 예술의 주체성이 보여 지는 부분이다.
공통적으로 전통과 창작에서는 품사 중에서 명사, 혼합명사의 경우를 자주 접하게
되었는데, 이는 ‘표현’이 주가 되고, 무언가를 표현하는 것이 춤의 전형이기에 일차적
으로 의미화 되어 있는 형용사와 동사, 부사의 사용보다는 명사의 사용으로 소재와 주
제의 설정 후, 나머지는 공연자의 표현세계에서 풀어나가고자 하는 의도이다.

영어초록
