초록

In the overall Chinese society of the late Ming and the early Qing Dynasty, along with the development of commercial economy, overflowing materialism, the change of values, sexual hedonism and addiction had been prevalent. As a result, prostitution and various kinds of sex related businesses had been developed unprecedentedly. However, because of many natural disasters, imperial examination ills, and war, the economic power of not only novel writers but the male common people was deteriorated than in other ages. Therefore, at that them, the male common people failed to join any sexual hedonic feasts, and even felt various kinds of sexual complex.
Since the mid Ming Dynasty, the commercial value of women had been on the sharp rise. Consequently, to the male common people, marriage became the greatest challenge of their life. That led into other social problems and crimes, such as adultery, abduction of women, and woman trafficking. As such, to the unmarried men, marriage was their lifetime dream, and the married men should prevent fall from the grace caused by their wife's extramarital affair, their wife's runaway, and kidnapping of their wife. In this aspect, to men, a woman itself became a sort of trauma.
The fusion of such their senses of inferiority, as their sexual complex, their trauma of women, and their absence of economic power, and social opinion was projected on various kinds of lustful type image of erotic novels in the late Ming and the early Qing Dynasty.
