초록

오늘날 영상물은 전 세계에서 대중 문화의 주류 전파 수단으로 널리 받아들여지고 있다. 영상물의 내용에 대한 발전 과정을 살펴보면, 텍스트의 내용이 선명한 이념과 문화적 패권의 초기 수출에서 현재의 문화적 평등과 가치다각화로 확장되는 것을 알 수 있다. 실제로 이러한 표면적인 평등하고 다원화된 텍스트 공간 속에서도 탈식민성을 지닌 말 권력의 차이가 여전히 숨겨져있다. 이러한 차이는 비서구적인 구성에 대한 서구 중심주의의 관점을 강조한다. 비서구가 영상물 텍스트에 나타내는 상황은 진실하고 객관적인 것이 아니라 서구적 관점에서의 비서구적인 표현에 대한 담화를 은폐하는 것이다. 이는바로 과거에 비해 기술적으로 더 은폐되고 전략적으로 더 복잡한 문화 패권성격을 지닌 본질이다.
따라서 본 논문에서는 슈퍼히어로의 대표적인 작품인 ‘배트맨 애니메이션시리즈(Batman: The Animated Series)’를 연구 대상으로 삼아, 이 애니메이션의 캐릭터 이미지, 권력 공간, 담화 텍스트가 서구 중심의 시각으로 비서구적 대상을 ‘타자’화하는 방식을 탈식민주의 이론의 타자, 권력, 문화적 패권의 관점에서 분석하고자 한다. 타자의 관점에서 애니메이션은 캐릭터의 신체적 이미지구분을 통해 하나의 문화적 상징을 내포하고 있어, 캐릭터 형성의 주체인 타자에 대한 이미지 정체성의 차이를 만든다. 권력의 관점에서 애니메이션에는폐쇄적인 텍스트 공간이 존재하며, 권력의 주체는 감시하는 권력 기술을 통해주체의 타자에 대한 규칙을 구현한다. 문화적 패권의 관점에서, 주체는 타자에 대한 지배적인 관계를 갖지만 시청자는 텍스트의 재해석과 담론 전략을 소화 및 반전시켜 타자의 객체 주체화를 완료함으로써 문화적 패권의 텍스트에저항할 수 있다. 이 세 가지 분석을 통해 애니메이션 텍스트의 탈식민성 특징의 구축 과정과 담화 전략을 살펴보고, 오늘날 다양한 배경에서 숨겨진 문화적 패권을 가진 텍스트의 내용을 드러내는 방법과 비판 방법을 제공하고자 한다. 이는 탈식민주의 연구와 미국 애니메이션 연구에 일정한 보완 효과를 제공하고 현대 사회에 문화적 평등과 다양한 가치의 세계를 구축하기 위한 이론적 지원을 제공한다.

영어초록

Nowadays, film and television works are widely accepted worldwide as the mainstream means of dissemination of popular culture.
Throughout the development process of the expressive content of film and television works, their textual content has evolved from early outputs with distinct ideological and cultural hegemony to now more characterized by cultural equality and value diversification. However, in fact, there is still a difference of post-colonial discourse power hidden in this seemingly equal and diversified textual space. This difference highlights the construction of non-Western from a Western-centrism perspective. The situation presented by non-Western in the text of film and television works at this time is not real and objective, but a kind of speech obscuring the non-Western expression of oneself from the western perspective. And this is the essence of cultural hegemony, which is technically more hidden and strategically more complex than in the past. Therefore, this study takes Batman: The Animated Series, a representative work of superheroes, as the object of study. It attempts to explore the ‘other’ of non-Western objects through characters, power space and discourse texts from a Western-centrism perspective, and to analyze and reveal the post-colonial Ideographic features of this animated work from the perspectives of otherness, power and cultural hegemony in post-colonial theories.
From the perspective of others, there is a cultural representation hidden in the animation through the subject image of the characters, which leads to the difference in image recognition of the characters.
From the perspective of power, there is a closed textual in animation, and the subject of power embodies the discipline of the subject to others through the power technology of surveillance. From the perspective of cultural hegemony, although the subject has a dominant relationship to the Other, it can be resolved and reversed through the audience’s re-interpretation of the text and discourse strategies, completing the subjectivization of the Other’s own object, and thus resisting the text of cultural hegemony. Through the analysis of the above three points, it reveals the construction process and discourse strategy of post-colonial characteristics and resistance to it, which provides a certain complementary role to the study of post-colonial and the study of American animation. It also provides a way to reveal and criticize the hidden cultural hegemony in film and television works in today’s multi background and a method of critique, so as to provide theoretical support for the establishment of a culturally equal and valuediverse world in today’s society.
