근현대 과학기술문명에 대한 인간존재론적 독해 - 포스트휴먼 성찰: 야스퍼스와 매슬로를 중심으로 (An Ontological Reading of Modern Science and Technology Civilization- Posthuman Reflection: Focusing on Jaspers and Maslow)

초록

통상 근현대는 과학기술이 문명의 핵심축을 이루는 과학기술시대로 일컬어진다. 이 기계문명(과학기술문명)이 21세기 디지털기술의 급격한 진화로 ‘제2의 기계시대-4차 산업혁명’이라는 초연결지능사회에 진입하면서 인간과 기술의 포스트휴먼적 융합을 선도하는 트랜스휴머니즘이 부상했다. 소위 포스트휴먼시대의 도래는 생물학적 인간강화라는 무한한 혜택과 소구력에도 불구하고 인간의 존재적 위기, 전통적 인간상의 유효성에 많은 의문을 던져주고 있다. 이러한 문제인식 속에서 본 연구는 첨단 과학기술에 의한 인위적인 인간향상(변형)과는 다른 문맥의 ‘존재론(실존주의 휴머니즘)적 인간성장(growthㆍbecoming, 생성)’ 차원에서 기계로 치환될 수 없는 인간적 가치, 인간본성, 인간성 등을 재환기시키기 위해 마련되었다. 더해서 이를 통해 인간과 기계의 공생을 이끄는 인간 내면의 새로운 정신혁명을 모색해보고자 했다. 그 이론모델은 칼 야스퍼스의 종교 영성적 실존철학과 그 영향권에 있는 에이브러햄 매슬로의 존재심리학이다. 연구진행은 실존적 사유세계와 매슬로의 존재심리학 간의 연관성을 고찰한 다음에, 야스퍼스의 실존조명과 매슬로의 동기(욕구)이론이 협업하는 인간존재론적 의미망, 그에 의거한 근현대 산업(기계) 문명의 진화동인과 정위, 그리고 실존적 자기실현으로서의 인간학, 인간공동체를 논구했다. 요컨대 야스퍼스와 매슬로가 개진한 문명표준은 자기존재의 실현과 함께 실존적 상호소통(진리)이 확보된 인간공동체가 핵심어이다. 그리고 이들의 존재론적 성찰은 인간본성과 기술혁신이 공진화하는 산업혁명의 진화과정을 해명하고 21세기 포스트휴먼시대와 새로운 인간공동체를 계도하는 긴요한 지식자원이라고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The modern era is usually referred to as the era of science and technology, in which science and technology form the core axis of civilization. With the rapid evolution of digital technology in the 21st century, this machine civilization (science and technology civilization) has entered a hyper-connected intelligent society known as the ‘Second Machine Age—The Fourth Industrial Revolution’. At this time, transhumanism, referring to the post-human fusion of humans and technology, has emerged. The advent of the so-called post-human era raises many questions about the existential crisis of human beings and the validity of the traditional human image, despite the infinite benefits and appeal of biological human reinforcement. In recognition of this problem, this study focuses on ontological (existentialistic humanism) human growth (becoming) in a context different from artificial human enhancements (transformation) by advanced science and technology that cannot be replaced by machines. It is designed to reinvigorate human values, human nature, and humanity. In addition, through this, we attempt to explore a new mental revolution within humans that leads to a form of symbiosis between humans and machines. The theoretical model relies on Karl Jaspers’ philosophy of religion, spirituality and existentialism and Abraham Maslow’s psychology of being in its sphere of influence. The research begins by examining the relationship between the existential world of thought and Maslow’s concept of being-psychology. Then, the ontological semantic network in which Jaspers’ existential illumination and Maslow’s motive (need) theory collaborate is discussed, and the evolutionary driver and position of modern industrial (machine) civilization based on it, along with anthropology and the human community in the dimension of existential self-realization. In short, the key words related to the civilization standard proposed by Jaspers and Maslow are the realization of self-existence and the human community in which existential communication (truth) is secured; their ontological reflection can be said to be an essential knowledge resource that elucidates the evolutionary process of the industrial revolution in which human nature and technological innovation co-evolve, guiding the post-human era of the 21st century and the creation of a new human community.
