초록

After the collapse of New Order, the regime of Soeharto was on the last silence towards the '1965 Event(Peristiwa 1965)' and '1965-1966 Massacre(Pembantai Massal 1965-1966)', then mass started to break. There were various efforts to examine again those two events from many aspects and views. Considering those efforts, this research has aim to discuss any issues related with victims in the 1965 Event and the Massacre through literature works. Actually ,there were many literature works taken those two events and the victims as the main theme and background. Some of the researches done over works related with the two events showed result that victims of the two events were reconstructed as negative image. According to the researches, those works functioned as propagandas to deliver anti-communist that was emphasized by the regime of Soeharto towards the society. Based on those researches, it could be said that Indonesian literature works itself kept its silence and made the society silence also over the two most tragic events in Indonesian history? Correlating with those things, Umar Kayam’s works have a different view. Many of his works about those two events gave other voice. For that reason, this research would discuss over issues such as how was Umar Kayam’s view and what kind of voice he wanted to take out towards the victims of those two events. For discussing those issues, this research would focus on two short stories by Umar Kayam, namely Bawuk(1975) and Musim Gugur Kembali di Connecticut(1967).
