초록

중국의 무형문화유산(intangible cultural heritage)은 현재 국가 주도의 민족문화 담론의 기본 텍스트로 적극적으로 활용되고 있다. 이는 단순한 예술 교육을 넘어 애국주의・집단주의 교육 및 인성 교육까지 아우르는 결절점이다. 본 연구는 예술성・전통성・관계성 면에서 독보적인 장점을 갖춘 그림책을 연구대상으로 삼아, 그것이 무형문화유산을 어떻게 전유하고 있는지를 고찰하였다.
분석한 결과, 명천출판사의 무형문화유산 그림책 시리즈는 “갈등과 모순”이라는 서사의 핵심 요소가 없었다. 대신 친절하고 신뢰할 만한 “발신자(sender)”와 “협조자(helper)”를 통해 아동이 무형문화유산을 경험하게 하는 서사 구조를 만들고, 이를 통해 무형문화유산이 “좋은 것, 가까운 것, 즐거운 것”이라는 감정을 느끼게 만드는 전략을 구사하고 있다. 또한, 영상 매체에 익숙한 아동 세대를 겨냥해, 문화유산을 가장 잘 관찰할 수 있는 앵글, 쇼트(shot), 액션 컷 등의 기법을 활용하여 서사의 결함을 보완하는 동시에 아름다운 전통예술의 스펙터클을 제공하고 있다. 본 그림책 시리즈의 스토리텔링 전략은 중국의 아동문화 콘텐츠의 질적 향상이라고 판단되며, 아동에 대한 사회적 관심도와 창작자 및 출판업계의 향상된 소구력이 반영된 결과라고 생각한다.
중국은 정부의 막강한 지원과 정책 실천을 통해 ‘문화적 기억(kulturelle Gedächtnis)’의 아카이브를 확장하고 있고, 다양한 예술 창작욕를 분출할 수 있는 소프트파워 인프라가 세부적으로도 뻗어나가고 있다. 그림책은 앞으로도 더욱 발전할 것이며 더 효율적으로 교육에 사용될 것이다. 섬세하고도 아름다운 예술화된 그림책이, 부모와 자녀, 교사와 학생, 강연자와 수강자의 “관계적 독서”로 함께 읽히며 그 안에 함의된 중국몽 이데올로기는 확고하게 감정적 진실로 기억될 것이다. 이로써 역사적 그늘이 없는 중국 미래세대의 주조도 가능하리라고 본다. 자국의 전통문화를 재해석해 새롭게 경계를 세워 예술의 기억으로 활성화되어야 한다는 점은 우리에게도 변함없는 사실이다.

영어초록

China’s intangible cultural heritage is currently actively used as the basic text of state-led national cultural discourse. This is a ‘Knotenpunkt’ that encompasses patriotism, collectivist education, and personality education more than art education. This study examined how it appropriates intangible cultural heritage by using picture books with unique advantages in terms of artistry, tradition, and relationship as the subject of study.
As a result of the analysis, Ming Tian Publishing Company’s series of intangible cultural heritage picture books did not have a key element in the narrative of “conflict and contradiction.” Instead, it creates a narrative structure that allows children to experience intangible cultural heritage through friendly and reliable “sender” and “helper,” and uses a strategy to make them feel that intangible cultural heritage is “good, close, and enjoyable.” In addition, targeting the generation of children familiar with video media, it uses techniques such as angles, shots, and action cuts that can best show cultural heritage to supplement the flaws of the narrative while providing a spectacle of beautiful traditional art. The storytelling strategy of this picture book series is judged to be the improvement of the quality of children’s cultural content in China, and I think it is the result of reflecting social interest in children and the improved appealing power of creators and publishing industries.
China is expanding the archive of “kulturelle Gedächtnis” through strong government support and policy implementation, and a soft power infrastructure that can unleash various artistic creativity is also expanding in detail. Picture books will continue to develop further and will be used for education more efficiently. Delicate and beautiful artistic picture books will be read together as “relational reading” by parents and children, teachers and students, lecturers and students, and the Chinese dream ideology implied in them will be firmly remembered as emotional truth. As a result, it seems possible to create future generations of China without historical shadow. It is the same fact for us that it should be revitalized as a memory of art by reinterpreting its traditional culture and establishing new boundaries.
