초록

삼언에서 종족 관련 핵심 용어가 사용되는 사례가 적어도 62편으로 전체 120편의 반 이상을 차지하였는데, 이는 명대 종족 인식의 확산과 그 필요가 반영된 결과였다.
삼언을 전체적으로 볼 때, 필멸의 세계와 불멸의 세계라는 공간을 설정하고, 필멸의 세계에서 살아가는 사람들의 삶을 궁극적으로 인과율을 통해 불멸의 세계와 결합하고 있다. 이러한 구도는 ‘조상 - 나 - 후손’으로 이어지는 종족의 세계와 유사했다.
삼언에서는 영생불사 및 불멸의 세계에서의 삶을 최고의 가치로 설정하였다. 하지만 이에 도달하는 것이 사실상 불가능함을 공언하고 현실적으로 가능한 ‘福’의 획득을 강조했다. ‘복’ 가운데는 ‘자손 많은 것’을 비롯하여 관직, 재산, 건강과 장수 등이 있고 그 복을 얻는 최선책 역시, 수행, 선행, 공덕 쌓기였는데, 이들은 모두 종족을 형성하고 유지하는 핵심적 요소였다.
삼언에서 종족은 필멸의 세계와 불멸의 세계를 결합한 조직이자 믿음의 세계였다. 조종은 조상신이 되어 후손들을 보우하고, 후손은 조상에 대하여 지속적으로 제사를 지냄으로써 복을 받고 보호를 받을 수 있으며, 제사를 지내주는 후손이 없다면 죽어서도 제사를 받지 못하는 떠돌이 귀신이 된다고 믿었다. 이에 후손의 확보는 가장 중요한 과제가 되었으며, 그 대책으로 첩 들이기, 데릴사위 삼기, 양자 들이기, 외손자 나누어 갖기 등을 소설 형식으로 제시했다. 또 선영은 조상의 유해를 보존하고 정기적으로 조상을 추념할 수 있는 공간이었고 사당은 조상의 영정이나 위패를 모셔두고 일상적으로 조상과 같이 사는 공간으로, 종족을 영속시키는 물질적 기초였다. 이에 삼언에서는 선영과 사당에 대한 안정적 유지가 조상을 지키고 종족을 영속시키는 현안이라고 하였을 뿐만 아니라 무덤을 새로운 종족 형성의 출발점이자 상징으로 그리기도 하였다.
삼언의 작가들은 이러한 종족 인식과 종족 이야기를 120편 곳곳에 배치하여 이야기를 흥미 있게 만들고 ‘세상 사람들을 깨우치려는’ 자신의 의지를 관철하고자 했다.

영어초록

The ideology and lifestyle of the Clans permeated the Ming Dynasty society like air. Political instability and socioeconomic liquidity increased in the Ming Dynasty. Securing the social safety net has become the most important task for everyone. The state power sought to ease restrictions on the people's right to perform ancestral rites and expand clan ethics to the foundational society. Various clans were activated, ranging from the Emperor's or gentry's clans to the common people's clans below. There were at least 62 cases in which key terms related to clan were used in Sanyan, accounting for more than half of the total 120. This was the result of reflecting the spread of the ideas of clans and its need.
Looking at Sanyan as a whole, the space of the mortal world and the immortal world were set. The lives of people living in the mortal world are ultimately combined with the immortal world through causality. This composition was similar to the world of clans connected by 'ancestors - I - descendants'.
In Sanyan, life in a world of eternal immortality and immortality was set as the the highest value. However, Sanyan declared that it was virtually impossible to reach this. Sanyan emphasize the realistically possible acquisition of 'Fu(福)'. Among the 'Fu(福)', there are "many descendants", government posts, property, health, and longevity. These were all key elements of forming and maintaining a clan. The best way to achieve 'Fu(福)' was also to practice, do good deeds, and build merit. These were all in accordance with causality and were important virtues for clan formation and development. From the first story of Sanyan, in return for his good deeds, it cited cases of passing the test and promotion, becoming rich, acquiring offspring, and the couple's happily aging together, and presented cases of death, disgrace, and extinction for evil deeds.
In Sanyan, the clans was an organization and a world of faith that combined the mortal world and the immortal world. People believed that when their ancestors died, they became ancestors and protected their descendants. People believed that descendants could be blessed and protected by continuously performing ancestral rites. People believed that without descendants who performed ancestral rites, they would become wandering ghosts who could not receive ancestral rites even when they died. As a result, securing descendants became the most important task for everyone. As a countermeasure against this, Sanyan presented the form of a novel, such as making a concubine, making a son-in-law, making an adopted son-in-law, and sharing a grandchild.
The tomb was a space where the remains of ancestors could be preserved and regularly remembered. A shrine is a space where ancestors' portraits or memorial tablets are enshrined and they live together on a daily basis. These were all material bases that perpetuated the clan. Sanyan clearly stated that maintaining these stable is a pending issue that protects ancestors and perpetuates the clan. Even in Sanyan, the tomb was described as a symbol of forming a new clan.
The writers of Sanyan placed these ideas of clan and stories of clan in the composition of many of the 120 novels. Through this, the story development was urgent and interested. In addition, they tried to fulfill their will to "awake the world" through this.
