초록

The latest Qing dynasty novels, reflected awareness of time actively which is enlightenment and saving country in a great crisis. So novel background during this period had been formed closely between modern process controlled by western power and chinese action on its process. Emerging novels on theme of a foreign country history which were a new type using political background exposures collapse of chinese world order system, forming modern history in East Asia, and chinese critical discourse and political imagination about accepting western culture at that time.
Novels on theme of a foreign country history during the latest Qing dynasty have something in common as follows. One is that the history of the latest Qing dynasty totally differs from other historical period. The other is that their forms tried to prove relationship with history background in order to give genuinely universal qualification and responsibility to the nation and the people. So, for these reasons, they revived the historical reality of China through a chain of events deducted by other countries history and attempted political reforms. Thus, they were willing to effect on the self-regulation of the chinese people and their political reforms using literary device in historical representation of the nation and the people.
In short, those novels on theme of a foreign country history have a certain position as 'Historical Novel' due to narrative element which consist of historical reality of China and political reforms, emphasize the acceptance of the concept of modern civil rights and freedom, and actualization of political imagination in modern nation and the people.
