19세기 말 昌善島 林召史 致死事件에 대한 「檢案」 분석의 사례 (Analysis-Examples of Examination of a Murder Case Related to Lim, Sosa at Changsundo in the late 19th Century)

초록

This is a case study on analysis of examination(檢案) of Ms. Lim who lived in Mosandong(茅山洞), Changsunmyun(彰善面), Jinju(晉州) county in the 19th century. The preliminary data related to the social history, everyday affairs, and the provincial history in the islands area could be detected from the result of the analysis of examination in the 19th century.
First, an examination officer was appointed under the administrative formation concerned with murder cases in islands area. In the late 19th century, Changsundo was included in islands affiliated to Jinju county. Therefore, the county headman of Jinju was appointed the examination officer. In addition, county headmen in adjacent area were appointed Bokgumgwan(覆檢官, county headman of Namhae) and Samgumgwan(三檢官, county headman of Gonyang) each for the impartiality of the investigation.
Second, the information of Changsun ranch was recognized from the examination process of Su, Sangmin. He was a commander and a resident of Mosandong. The location, scale, and subsidiary facilities of Changsun ranch in Chosun Period were reconstructed from documents and oral statements.
Third, residents everyday affairs in Chansundo were detected from the examination of Ms. Lim. On October 26th, 1896 of the lunar calendar, the residents in Changsundo led their living in the island with fixing the roof, weaving, selling sulfur, collecting public funds, and the life of hireling.
Fourth, the residents in Mosandong held a meeting related to the murder case of Ms. Lim. The attendants were Jipkang(執綱) in Changsunmyun, Dongsu(洞首) in Mosandong, and all the residents. They agreed to hide the murder case in the meeting. The reason was that the village was likely to be disorganized by the murder case, and most of all, the tyranny and greed of the small fry sent by the government with the murder case at the head were very serious.
