남자대학생의 혈중 vaspin 수준이 비만 및 대사증후군 위험인자에 미치는 영향 (Effect of serum vaspin on obesity and metabolic risk factors in Korean young men)

초록

The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of serum vaspin concentration on obesity and its related metabolic syndrome risk factors in college male students. A total of 376 apparently healthy men except obesity were recruited from "Exercise and Well Classes" for undergraduate students. All the participants underwent comprehensive-laboratory measurements including body composition and blood pressures and blood chemistry for blood lipids, glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR and vaspin. The participants were divided into either non-obese(control) or obese groups using the cut-off point of BMI with >25kg/m2. Group analyses showed that the obese group had significant values in body fatness, blood lipids, insulin, homeostasis model assesment index for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and vaspin, as compared with the non-obese(control) group. Multivariate linear regression analyses showed that waist circumference and serum vaspin were independent predictors of insulin and HOMA-IR. On the other hand, BMI, percent body fat and HOMA-IR were independent predictors in determining an individual variation in serum vaspin concentration. In conclusion, the current findings of the study suggest that serum vaspin concentration is positively associated with body fatness and insulin resistance biomarkers including fasting insulin and HOMA-IR in college men.
