외상후 성장으로서 위르겐 몰트만의 신앙경험과 연대 (Religious Experience and Solidarity of Jürgen Moltmann as Posttraumatic Growth)

초록

This article begins from Jürgen Moltmann, a German theologian’s war trauma and religious experience, which affected his later personal life and theological formation as deeply rooted experiences. Moltmann’s war trauma and postwar existential experience made him search for spiritual quest in the Christian truth. In this article, author views his postwar religious experience as a typical example of posttraumatic growth from the perspective of contemporary traumatic stress studies and analyzes his religious experience and theology from the vantage point of trauma and posttraumatic growth. By doing so, author articulates that Moltmann’s posttraumatic growth and search for faith and theology are reciprocally related each other. The essential experiences of Moltmann in his posttraumatic growth were an identification with the psalmists in suffering and the godforsaken Jesus on the cross, companionship with the crucified Christ toward the hope of a new future, and social support from the hospitality of the kind Scottish. Moltmann’s solidarity with the crucified Christ and solidarity with the suffering in his theology reflect collective sufferings of the victims of violence and injustice as well as his personal experience, and have therapeutic implications for the traumatized. This article explores those implications that Moltmann’s experience and theology have for contemporary victims of violence and catastrophes.
