초록

The conservation of the natural environment has become a top most priority to the world due to global warming and reckless tourist development. One urgentinternational environmental issue is the destruction of inhabitations of aquatic birds, which is caused by land reclamation by drainage. For the first time in Korea, the 10th Meeting of the Conference of Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (COP10)is going to be held in Changwon, Gyeongnam as well as in Sunchon Bay, Jeonnam, on October, 2008. It is imperative that Korea, as the host of this historic world-class-meeting, understands the diplomatic importance of this international meeting. It is in Korea's best interest to warmly welcome all 114 members of the conference, make a great impression of Korea and its wetlands, and commit to make the COP10 an environmentally sustainable event. The aim is to leave a positive legacy by minimizing and compensating for any potentially negative environmental impacts of the conference.
In 2006, Sunchon Bay was designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. The significance of Sunchon Bay is that it is a coastal wetland which has been preserved as closely as possible to the original ecosystem of a coastal estuary; furthermore, the bay is home to internationally-protected rare migrant birds. This international attention on wetlands in Korea has led to the initiation of this research study that focuses on Sunchon Bay, which is located in between Goheung and Yeosu peninsula. This research centers on the development of Photographic Cultural Contents focusing on the nature, ecosystem, and environmental qualities of the wetlands in Sunchon and brand marketing Sunchon Bay, Sunchon City and Korea on the large through the development of photo-media.
