초록

리근전의 『범바위』는 광복이후 전개된 중국의 국공내전 일명 해방전쟁에서의 조선족의 공헌과 기여를 다룬 혁명서사로서 1958년부터 1960년대 초반에 이르는 시기, 조선족의 북한으로의 대량적 역이주로 인해 당시 조선족 사회가 처한 국민적 정체성의 위기를 극복하고 연변사회에서의 조한(朝漢) 두 민족 간의 갈등을 봉합하기 위한 나름의 문학적 대응이었으며 리근전은 이를 통해 위기에 직면한 조선족의 국민적 정체성을 재정립하고자 하였다.
이러한 문학적 대응의 하나는 조선반도에 대한 소거와 고향에 대한 재 정의를 통한 경계의 구축이다. 리근전은 소설에서 그 서사 전략으로 조선반도를 소거시키고 고향을 중국 내의 이주지로 재 정의함으로써 조선족의 이주민으로서의 성격을 지우고 국내의 소수민족으로 정의하였다. 이를 통해 동북 조선족 사회와 혈연적 유대를 갖고 있는 조선반도 사이에 경계를 구축함으로써 국경을 견고히 하였다. 다른 하나는 조선족의 이념 선택의 과정을 통한 국민으로 통합되기이다. 소설에서 조선족의 이념적 선택의 문제는 국공 양당의 대 조선인 정책의 우열을 통한 민족의 길 찾기와 조선족의 계급적 기초 및 조한(朝漢) 두 민족의 공동의 반일투쟁의 역사에 의한 필연적인 성격의 범주로 그려지고 있다. 세 번째는 참군과 토지개혁을 통한 조선족의 국민적 자격의 획득이다.
이러한 문학적 대응에 중요한 문학사적 의미를 부여할 수 있는 것은 그것이 반우파투쟁에 이어 민족정풍과 함께 연변전역을 휩쓸었던 1959년의 지방민족주의를 반대하는 운동 등 당시의 엄혹했던 정치적 상황 속에서 이루어진 용기 있는 '민족적 발화'이기 때문이다. 그것은 어쩌면 리근전 개인의 용기라기보다는 중국공산당의 요청에 의한 것일 수도 있고 중국공산당과 리근전이 소속되어있던 조선족 간부층의 모종 교감에 의한 것일 수도 있었을 것이다.

영어초록

Lee Geunjeon’s Tiger Cliff, a revolutionary narrative that deals with Korean Chinese’ contributions towards the Liberation War, is the literary correspondence of necessity of overcoming the national identity crisis in Korean Chinese society during 1958 and the early 1960s due to their massive reverse migration to North Korea and repairing the relation between Han Chinese and Korean Chinese, and also the way Lee Geunjeon tried to rebuild Korean Chinese’ national identity.
This kind of literary correspondence can be observed from the following three aspects. The first one is the establishment of the boundary through erasure of the Korean peninsula and redefinition of hometown. In his novel, Lee Geunjeon used a narrative strategy that erased the Korean peninsula to erase the character of the Korean Chinese as migrants and redefine his hometown as immigrant areas in China to define Korean Chinese as a minority group in China so as to strengthen the border with the establishment of the boundary between Korean Chinese society in Northeast China and Korean peninsula related with it by blood. The second one is to consider Korean Chinese to be national citizens through the process of their ideological choice. In the novel, Korean Chinese’ ideological choice is depicted as an inevitable result of finding the way for their nation by comparing the policies of National Party and the Communist Party towards Korean Chinese and also an inevitable thing related with Korean Chinese’ class basis and the common history of the Anti Japanese struggle of Han Chinese and Korean Chinese. The third one is to get national qualification by joining the army and carrying out land reform.
The reason why this literary correspondence can be endowed with important significance in literary history is that it is a ‘national speech’ under the harsh political situation that rectification movement and the anti-local nationalist movement of 1959 swept Yanbian area right after the anti-rightist campaign. This may have been at the request of the Communist Party of China, rather than the individual courage of Lee Geunjeon, or it could have been a kind of sympathy between the Communist Party of China and the Korean-Chinese cadres to which Lee Geunjeon belonged.
