화성 청계리 취락을 통해 본 한강유역 통일신라시대 촌락의 일면 (Aspect of Unified Silla Village in Han River Basin : Through the work Community in Cheonggye－li, Hwaseong)

초록

화성 청계리 취락은 8세기대의 통일신라시대 취락으로 주거시설인 수혈주거지, 대형저장시설인 굴립주건물지, 소형저장시설인 수혈유구, 생산시설인 작업장과 가마, 우물 등으로 구성되어 있다. 취락에 대한 분석 결과 당시 취락에서 나타나는 일반적인 구릉형 입지이며, 시설물의 배치는 지형과 동선 등을 고려하여 3단으로 나타난다. 이러한 입지와 시설물 배치는 주생산활동인 농경과 관련있는 것으로 확인되었다. 취락의 규모는 20기 내외의 주거지로 구성되어 있으며, 100명 내외의 인구수가 소속되어 있었던 것으로 확인되었다. 취락의 구성민들은 개인 및 세대별로 재산을 향유하면서 경제활동을 하는 동시에 필요에 의해 작업장 및 대형저장시설인 굴립주 건물지, 우물 등은 공동으로 사용하였던 8세기대 통일신라의 자연촌으로 판단된다.
한강유역에서는 최근 20~30기 내외의 주거지로 구성된 규모의 통일신라시대 취락의 조사가 증가하고 있다. 취락들은 규모 및 출토 유물 등에서 보편성을 띠고 있으며, 입지와 출토농기구 등을 고려할 때 농경이 생업이었을 것으로 추정된다.
조사된 취락과 ‘신라촌락문서’의 촌락을 비교할 때 비슷한 규모의 촌락으로 추정되며, 국가의 수취대상에 포함되는 말단 자연촌이었을 것으로 판단된다. 출토된 철제품이나 석제추는 이러한 상황을 반영하는 유물이다. 한강유역의 취락과 마찬가지로 자연촌으로 국가의 수취대상에 포함되었을 청계리 취락의 수취 담당 군현을 추정해 볼 수 있다. 주변 지형과 군현의 추정 위치를 고려할 때 청계리취락의 수취 담당 군현은 수성군이었을 가능성이 높다.

영어초록

The community remain in Cheonggye-li consists of cave-type residential facilities, storage facilities composed with underground and ground structures, small-scale production facilities composed with kiln and workshop, and a fountain for drinking water, thus composing a village. It is located in a hill and therefore presents a universal modality of location for Silla communities. The placement of community presents the modality of three units.The location and placement is the factors of occupation of which focus is farming. The community seems to consist of about 20 residences and about 100 villagers. The community seems to be a naturally formed Unified Silla village in the 8th century, in which villagers can possess property and carry out economical activities individually or in a unit of household and jointly use workshops, large-scale ground storage structures and fountains.
Comparing to the record of 'Silla Village Document' which informs us the status of villages in Unified Silla in the 8th century, the scale of Cheonggye-li community is similar to any other villages at that time. If taking the fact that Silla Village Document was to collect taxes into account, the governmental authority in the era of Unified Silla seems to reach even to the naturally formed terminal villages. The management of villages in Unified Silla presents the fact that the central government was successful in controlling even the naturally formed terminal villages after unification. In this regard, the Cheonggye-li community is not exceptional and steel farming tools, such as steel shovels and steel axes, seem to reflect this reality.
If Cheonggye-li community was ruled by the power of Unified Silla and the subject of taxation, it must belong to a gun or a hyeon, a unit of local governmental agency in Unified Silla. Since the system of gun and hyeon was established in the course of unification, its office seems to be placed within a fortress. Preceding studies show that the office of local governmental agency for Cheonggye-li community is seemingly placed in Halmisan Fortress, Doksan Fortress or Mubongsan Fortress. The offices of local governmental agency belonging to these fortresses are Geoseo-hyeon, SuseonG-gun and Jinwi-hyeon respectively. When taking the distance from Cheonggye-li community into account, the most plausible location of local governmental office is Doksan Fortress. In other words, Cheonggye-li community is a naturally formed terminal village belonging to Suseong-gun.
