지형분석과 GIS분석을 이용한 충남 ‘공주 송산리 고분군’ 입지 연구 (A Study on Location of Ancient Tombs in Gongju Songsan-ri By Using Geomorphological Analysis and GIS Analysis)

초록

본 연구에서는 지형분석과 GIS분석을 이용하여 ‘공주 송산리 고분군(이하 고분군)’ 입지의 지형특성을 밝히고자 하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 고분군은 송산(표고 86.5m)의 정부사면에 입지하며, 금강과 그 지류인 제민천으로부터 각각 약 1.1km, 약 0.5km 떨어져 있다. 조사범위를 ‘고분군과 주변지역(조사A지역)’으로 한정할 경우, 고분군은 연구A지역에서 가장 높은 송산의 준완경사지에, 그리고 조사범위를 송산으로 한정할 경우(연구B지역), 고분군은 연구B지역에서 비교적 높은 곳에 입지한다. 고분군(연구C지역)의 최저표고, 최고표고 및 평균표고는 54.1m(5호분), 73.5m(2호분), 66.3m이다. 고분군의 최소경사도, 최대경사도 및 평균경사도는 4.7°, 12.7°, 9.1°이다. 고분군이 입지하는 지표면의 사면향은 연구A지역→연구B지역→연구C지역으로 갈수록 점점 남향계열의 사면이 넓어진다. 이상과 같이 고분군은 송산에서 가장 높은 표고구간(80.0~81.8m), 가장 낮은 0° 경사도의 사면(평탄지), 일조량이 가장 좋은 남향(또는 남향계열)에 모두 입지하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 고분군 조성 당시에 비교적 넓은 규모의 공간이 필요했기 때문에 송산에서 비교적 면적이 좁은 ‘가장 높은 표고구간’은 고분군 입지터로 선택되지 않았으며, 오히려 상대적으로 경사도가 완만한 ‘평탄지~준완경사지(특히 완경사지)’와 일조량을 고려한 남향(또는 남향계열) 사면을 동시에 충족할 수 있는 곳이 선택된 것으로 생각된다. 본 연구는 고분군이 당시의 지형환경을 고려하여 조성되었다는 것을 실증적으로 증명한 최초의 자료이다. 따라서 본 분석자료는 향후 고분군 연구에 있어 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

영어초록

The objective of this study is to find out the geomorphological characteristics of the location of the ancient tombs in Gongju Songsan-ri by using the geomorphological analysis and GIS analysis. The result is as below. The ancient tombs located on the slope of the summit on the Songsan mountain(altitude of 86.5m), about 1.1km and about 0.5km away respectively from Geumgang River and the Jemin Stream which is a branch of it. When the scope of examination is limited to the ancient tombs and their neighboring area(‘A’ examination area), the ancient tombs located on the Sub-gentle slope of the Songsan mountain which is highest in ‘A’ examination area, and when the scope is limited to the Songsan mountain(‘B’ examination area), the ancient tombs are situated on a rather high place in ‘B’ examination area. The lowest, highest and average altitudes of the ancient tombs(‘C’ examination area) are 54.1m(Tomb 5), 73.5m(Tomb 2), and 66.3m respectively. The least, biggest, and average gradients of the ancient tombs are 4.7°, 12.7°, and 9.1° respectively. The slant orientations of the ancient tombs face gradually toward south from ‘A’ examination area, ‘B’ examination area, and ‘C’ examination area. Like this, the ancient tombs are not situated 100% on the highest altitude section (80.0~ 81.8m), the lowest altitude - 0° gradient slope(Flat), and toward south(or facing south) where the amount of sunlight is the most. This was because that the formation of the ancient tombs needed quite a large size of area, so the area of highest altitude which has rather a small area in the Songsan mountain was not selected, but the geomorphological environment which can satisfy the needs of flatness or slight slope and the area facing south with a good amount of sunlight was selected. This study is the first material that demonstratively proved that the ancient tombs were formed by considering the geomorphological environment to the most. Therefore, the result of this study can be utilized as a basic material for future archeological studies of ancient tombs.
