상상 어린이공원 놀이시설 이용률과 연령별 놀이행태 상관성에 의한 놀이시설 개선 제안 (Suggestion on Improvement of Amusement Facilities Based on the Correlativity between Utilization Rate of Sangsang Children’s Park and Play Form by Age)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 기존의 어린이 놀이터를 상상력과 창의력이 가득한 놀이공간으로 탈바꿈시키기 위해 서울시가 주도한 상상 어린이공원 개선사업이 호평과 더불어 전국으로 확산되고 있다. 각 지방자치단체에서 의욕적으로 시행하고 있는 어린이 공원 개선사업에 대해 다양한 차원에서 이용 후 평가에 대한 연구가 수행될 필요가 있다고 판단하여 개선된 환경과 놀이시설이 실 이용자인 어린이들의 신체적 발달 특성과 연령별 놀이행태를 잘 반영하고 있는지를 놀이시설 이용률과 연령별 놀이행태 간 상관성 여부를 통해 분석하고자 한다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 어린이의 연령별 놀이행태를 반영한 어린이 공원 놀이시설 개선방안을 제시하는데 본 연구의 목적을 둔다. (연구방법) 연구대상지 5개 어린이 공원을 중심으로 적용성 평가를 위한 현장조사와 더불어 관찰조사를 시행하였다. 또한 어린이들의 정확한 연령과 그들의 놀이시설 만족도 및 보호자의 놀이시설에 대한 평가를 파악하기 위한 보호자 대면설문조사를 병행하였다. 분석을 위해 공원을 방문하는 어린이 방문자의 수와 연령대, 놀이시설 이용률, 연령별 놀이시설 이용빈도, 공원 이용 만족도와 개선점 등의 요구사항을 파악하였다. 이러한 관찰 및 설문조사 분석을 바탕으로 놀이시설 이용률과 연령별 놀이행태 간 상관성에 관한 분석을 시도하였다. (결과) 공원 내 놀이시설 이용률과 연령별 놀이행태 간에는 유의미한 연관성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 영유아기와 아동기의 어린이는 인지, 신체적 발달의 정도가 큰 차이가 있어 놀이 행동 반경이나 선호하는 놀이시설 및 놀이행태가 다름에도 불구하고 조사 대상 어린이 공원 놀이시설은 연령별 특성을 적용한 시설 및 놀이 공간 구성이 이루어지지 않았다. 또한 창의적인 컨셉, 친환경적 소재, 다양한 캐릭터는 많은 발전을 하였으나 실제 아이들의 놀이욕구를 충족하고 있지는 않았으며, 정형화된 구조와 획일화된 배치를 탈피하지 못하였고, 놀이시설의 안전과 청결에 대한 관리소홀인 곳이 많았다. (결론) 첫째, 향후 어린이 공원을 계획함에 있어 연령별 특성을 반영한 놀이 공간을 계획하여야 한다. 어린이는 그 연령에 따라 발달 특성이 다르며, 놀이 행태도 다르기 때문에 각 발달 단계의 신체적 특성과 능력을 고려한 놀이 요소가 다양화되어야 한다. 둘째, 획일적으로 설치되는 놀이시설의 배치와 사용 안전성에 대한 물리적 개선이 필요하다. 보호자들의 요구가 안전에 대해 집중되고 있는 결과를 볼 때에 놀이시설의 안전성 문제는 새삼 강조될 필요가 있다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) An improvement project for Sangsang Children’s Park led by the Seoul City government to change the existing playground into an imaginative and creative play space is receiving favorable comment throughout the country. It is considered important to conduct post-construction assessments of various aspects once children begin using facilities that are part of the improvement projects undertaken enthusiastically by local governments; as a result, this paper analyzes whether the improved environment and facilities reflect age-appropriate developmental characteristics and play forms of children who are the actual users, based on correlativity between utilization rates and play forms by age. This research aims to suggest improvements in the design of amusement facilities in children’s parks to reflect play forms by age. (Method) Focusing on the five children’s parks that are the targets of this research, a field survey and observation survey for applicability assessment were conducted. Also, to define the exact ages of the children, their satisfaction with the facilities and the assessment of the facilities by guardians, a guardian-facing questionnaire survey was added. The analysis included the number of child visitors to the park, their ages, the utilization rates of the facilities, the frequency of facility use by age, satisfaction with the park, and requirements such as areas for improvement. Based on this observation and survey analysis, an evaluation of the correlativity of the amusement facilities’ utilization rates and play forms by age was attempted. (Results) It is known that there is meaningful correlativity between the utilization rates of amusement facilities in the park and play forms by age. There are large differences in the degree of physical development of infants, preschool children, and school-age children, so their activity areas, preferred facilities and play forms are different; nevertheless, there is no facility or play space that matches age-related characteristics. Although improvements in creative concepts, eco-friendly materials and diversity were seen to exist, they were not enough to satisfy children’s actual play needs, and did not deviate from standardized structures and uniform arrangements. Also, safety and cleanliness factors left much to be desired. (Conclusions) First, when planning children’s parks in the future, play spaces that reflect age-related characteristics should be planned. Children have different developmental characteristics and play forms, so there should be diversified play facilities that take into account their physical features and abilities at each stage. Second, there should be physical improvements to the arrangement and safety features to amusement facilities that are currently uniformly established. Since results indicate that guardians are focused on safety, the security of amusement facilities should be prioritized.
