초록

이 연구의 목적은 가야유물에 표현된 문양과 장식의 함의를 분석하여 가야유물들의 조형적 문화가치를 생성하고 가치의 지속 가능성을 위한 기초연구이다. 가야유물들의 문양과 장식은 2세기 중엽~6세기 후, 가야사 전개 과정이 투영되어 당시의 생활양식, 문화예술, 사회구조와 계층, 주변 정치체와의관계 등이 고스란히 드러난다. 이러한 것들은 조형 본질에 의해 결정되기 때문에 반드시 문화적 가치를 조형적 측면에서 재조명되어야 한다. 연구방법의 첫 번째 단계는 현대적 커뮤니케이션 언어로서 다양한 분야에서 활용된 수사학을 이론적 근거로 제시하여 가야유물의 시각적 언어를 파악한다. 두 번째단계는 가야유물들의 문양과 장식에 대한 조형의 내용을 수렴하고 그것들이 내포하고 있는 상징과 시각적 조형 원리와의 상호적 관계성을 구체적으로 분석한다. 가야유물들의 문양과 장식은 기하학 도형과 동·식물의 특징을 단순하게 표현한 형태로 나타난다. 유물에 표현된 문양과 장식의 관계에서 토기는 ‘자연과 인간과의 동일성’, 철제갑주와 장식대도는 ‘사회적 권력과 영원한 삶의 기원’, 장신구는 ‘영원한 생명’ 등 삼라만상을 구분하지 않고 인간의 삶 자체를 제시한다. 이러한 내용은 대칭, 반복, 균형, 대비의 시각원리와 환유와 제유의 시각적 수사방법을 통해 함축 의미로 확장된다. 따라서 가야유물들에 표현된 문양과 장식의 가치는 유물이 전하고자 하는 함의와 메시지를 집약적으로 표현된다. 이처럼가야유물의 문양과 장식은 정서적, 행동촉구적, 시적, 교감적 커뮤니케이션으로 현대적 조형 표현에있어서 공유와 공감 요소로서 가능성을 제시하고 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of patterns and decorations expressed in Gaya relics to create the formative cultural value of Gaya relics and to create a basic study for the sustainability of values. The patterns and decorations of the Gaya relics are reflected in the development process of Gaya history from the mid-2nd century to the 6th century, revealing the lifestyle, culture and art, social structure and class, and relationship with the surrounding political circles. Since these are determined by the nature of sculpture, cultural values must be re-examined in terms of formulation. The first step of the research method is to identify the visual language of Gaya relics by presenting rhetoric used in various fields as a theoretical basis as a modern communication language. In the second step, the contents of the formative on the patterns and decorations of Gaya relics are collected, and the mutual relationship between the symbols and visual shaping principles they contain is analyzed in detail. The patterns and decorations of Gaya relics appear in a simple expression of geometric shapes and characteristics of animals and plants. In the relationship between patterns and decorations expressed in relics, earthenware presents human life itself without distinguishing between three images, such as ‘identity with nature and humans’, ironclad and decorative daedos ‘the origin of social power and eternal life’, and ornaments. These contents are expanded into implications through the visual principles of symmetry, repetition, balance, and contrast, and the visual investigation method of metaphor and formula. Therefore, the value of patterns and decorations expressed in Gaya relics is intensively expressed in terms of the meaning and message. As such, the patterns and decorations of Gaya relics are emotional, conative, poetic, and phatic communication, suggesting the possibility of sharing and empathy in modern formative expressions.
