무당내력류의 감응청배 거리와 제석거리에서 나타난 굿춤의 도상적 해석 (Iconographic analysis on the action of Gameungcheongbae and Jeseokgeori gut-chum show in Mudang Naeryeok style)

초록

무당내력은 19세기경 서울지역 큰 굿의 각 거리를 그림으로 설명한 책으로 蘭谷이지은 책으로 알려져 있다. 무당내력의 이본들은 총 일곱 종으로 원래 세 종류로 알려져 있었으나 최근에 네 종류가 새롭게 발굴되었다.
새롭게 발굴된 이본들이 포함된 총 일곱 종의 巫黨來歷 이본들을 검토한 결과 그려진 굿춤의 동작들이 유사한 형태로 보이지만 각각의 동작들은 동일한 동작이 아닌 각기 독자적 상징성을 지닌 동작들로 그린 것이라는 점이 파악된다.
무당내력이본들의 감응청배와 제석거리 굿춤의 동작을 움직임, 자세, 몸짓의 3요소 중심의 분석과 더불어 무용 도상적 연구방법을통한 연구를 진행한 결과 다음과 같은 연구결과가 도출되었다.
첫째, 무당내력이본들의 감응청배와 제석거리의 굿춤은 비슷해보이나 각각 다른 동작들로 이루어졌다는 점이다.
둘째, 춤이 이루어지는 공간에 대한 파악 및 연행 장소 및 연행자신분에 대한 정보를 알 수 있었으며, 셋째로는 신체 형태화의 분석요소들인 동시에 움직임의 분석 중 신체 부위 연결성의 분석 요소인 춤의 진행 방향을 알 수 있었다.
넷째, 동작(action) 분석 중 몸짓(gesture)분석에 해당하는 팔동작을통해 나타나는 거리 별 상징동작에 대한 파악이 이루어졌다.
다섯째, 무구의 방향성 파악을 통한 형태(Shape)분석이 가능한데, 무구가 가르치는 방향성을 통해 허공 속에서 그려지는 형태 의미를파악할 수 있었다이처럼 단 한 컷의 그림을 통해 우리는 많은 움직임을 추측하고 그움직임의 상징의미와 형태미를 찾을 수 있다.
현재 무당내력류 굿춤의 무용 도상적 해석은 각 거리별로 이루어져야 하며 이 같은 연구를 바탕으로 서울굿춤의 원형적 상징 동작들 의 틀을 찾을 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 또 이 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 단계가 심화 발전 되어져 무당내력을 통해 굿춤의 본원적 상징의미와 함축적 표현 형식미를 파악해야 할 것이라 여겨진다.

영어초록

Mudang Naeryeok is an illustrated book that describes the tunes of major guts in Seoul in 19th century using pictures and is known to have been written by Nangok (蘭谷) The editions of Mudang Naeryeok are comprised of seven different books with four recently excavated books added to the original three books.
Examining a full collection of Mudang Naeryeok editions, including newly found books has identified that individual dance moves convey independent symbolisms instead of being identical although they look similar to one another.
An in-depth iconographic analysis on the movements of Gameungcheongbae and Jeseokgeori gut-chum described and illustrated in a collection of Mudang Naeryeok editions along with the analysis on three major elements of gut-chum movements has obtained the following findings.
First, the Gameungcheongbae and Jeseokgeori gut-chum contained in a collection of Mudang Naeryeok editions look similar but are comprised of different movements with one another.
Second, I was able to identify the information on the space where chum is performed, venue of performance and on the social status of performances.
Third, I have been able to understand the progress direction of chum, an analysis factor on the connectivity of body parts among bodily analysis as well as the analysis factors of bodily formation.
Fourth, I have understood the symbolic movements of each tune through the movement of arms that falls under the category of movement analysis.
Fifth, an analysis on the shapes could be made by understanding the direction of shamanic materials, and I was able to understand what shapes drawn in the air represent by examining and inspecting the directions pointed by shamanic materials.
A single picture goes a long way in helping us guess and identify a lot of movements and their symbolic meanings and physical beauty.
Today, the iconographic interpretation of Mudang Naeryeok style gut chum should be conducted on an individual geori (tune) basis, based on which we are expected to identify the framework of prototypical symbolic movements of Seoul Gut Chum. In addition, this study is expected to facilitate a further development and transition of relevant studies from the first-phase iconographic analysis to the second-phase iconographic technology and the third-phase iconographic interpretation, eventually leading us to understand the original symbolic meanings and implications and the beauty of implicit expressions and forms of gut chum through Mudang Naeryeok.
