본 논문은 개혁주의생명신학의 관점에서, 학개서를 중심으로 스룹바벨 성전 재건이 유다 공동체에서 가지는 신학적 의미와 사회학적 의미를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위한 연구방법으로는 학개서의 본문에 관한 공시적 연구와 함께 갈등론, 기능론, 상징적 상호작용론의 사회학적 관점을 사용한다.
성전은 이스라엘에게 하나님의 임재를 상징하며 그것의 파괴는 죄와 심판의 결과이다. 이러한 성전을 재건한다는 것은 여러 가지 면에서 정리될 수 있다. 먼저 학개서 본문에 나타난 성전 재건의 신학적 의미는 다음과 같다. 성전 재건은 궁극적으로 하나님의 영광을 위한 것으로 유다 공동체에게 하나님과의 언약 관계를 재확인시키는 통로가 되며 그 과정에서 전체 백성을 하나님의 언약공동체로써 통합시킨다. 또한, 스룹바벨을 중심으로 재건된다는 점에서 하나님이 다윗 왕조와 맺으신 언약의 신실함과 연속성을 보여주며, 성전 재건은 믿음이 관념이나 이상이 아니라 행동하는 현실임을 뜻한다.
이 외에 사회학적 의미는 다음과 같다. 성전 재건은 지배집단의 이익을 위한 수단이 되어 유다 공동체를 갈등하고 분열하게 한다(갈등론). 그러나 학개서 본문에서 성전 재건은 민족정신과 경제 문제에 대한 신학적 답안을 기반으로 유다 공동체를 통합하는 역할을 하며(기능론), 유다의 민족적 정체성을 다시 각인하게 하는 계기가 된다(상징적 상호작용론).
또한, 개혁주의생명신학과 스룹바벨 성전 재건은 다음과 같이 관련된다. 성전 재건은 삶의 전 영역에서의 하나님의 현재적 다스림, 성령의 도우심, 하나님나라를 위한 인간의 현실적인 사역이라는 면에서 ‘하나님나라운동’과 깊은 연관성을 가진다.

From the viewpoint of Reformed Life Theology, this article examines the theological and sociological implication of Zerubbabel temple reconstruction in the Judah community, centering on the book of Haggai. As research methodology, synchronic approach to the text of Haggai are used. And the perspectives of conflict theory, function theory, and symbolic interaction theory are used in order to analyze the sociological meaning of temple reconstruction.
The temple symbolizes God’s presence in Israel, and the destruction of the temple is the result of sin and judgment. The rebuilding of it is organized in many ways.
First, the theological meaning of temple reconstruction in the text of Haggai is as follows.: The nature of the temple is God’s glory. And the reconstruction of the temple is for it. The reconstruction of the temple is also a channel to reconfirm the covenant relationship with God to the Israel. In the process of reconstruction of the temple, the entire people are integrated into of God’s covenant community. The reconstruction of temple under Zerubbabel reaffirms the faithfulness and continuity of God’s covenant with the dynasty of David, and demonstrates God’s unchanging faithfulness toward Israel. At the same time, temple reconstruction shows the importance of realizing faith and acting faith, not ideologies and ideals.
The sociological meaning of Zerubbabel temple reconstruction is as follows: It can be interpreted as a vehicle for the interests of the ruling group, causing conflict and division in the community (conflict theory). However, the text of Haggai shows that it acts as a means to unify the Judah community based on the national spirit and theological answers (functional theory). And it serves as an opportunity to reconfirm the national self-identity of Judah community(symbolic interaction theory).
The reconstruction of the Zerubbabel Temple is related to the Reformed Life Theology as follows. The rebuilding of the temple is related to the ‘Kingdom Movement’ in terms of God’s present rule in all areas of life, the help of the Holy Spirit, and the human effort for the kingdom of God.
